The autocross part of the event started of exciting as the very first competitor went through the finish line sideways and wiped out the expensive side of the timing equipment! The rest was uneventful except for some impressive oversteer, smoking tires, and the occasional profanity that was audible without any engine noise.

We're not. We are an independent club that uses the SCCA's ruleset. Someone should send a note to them letting them know they should update the article. - AB

Note has been sent to the organizers - not sure where that misconception came from, as we've only been dealing with them for 15 years or so!

Article has been corrected.

No, the first car through the finish punted the laserhead, but didn't do any apparent damage to it. The tall cone probably "cushioned" the impact. We re-aligned the head and went on without issue.

Oh, and Michael Westerfield did the math - we had ~10 cones per second of course. 90% of those were just pointers indicating the perimeter and direction of travel, but fundamentally, small lots + islands and curbs + not-even-novice-drivers make for an interesting combination.
