If you're unemployed in a bad economy with few better job prospects. Then $30K is not something to scoff at.

Fresh out of school don't complain. Your fancy degree is a ticket to get on the ride. Doesn't mean you're any good at it. You have to prove it.

If you've got plenty of years of experience with a good salary. Sure $30K might very well hurt a lot. It all becomes what you are willing to accept based on how desperate you get. Being unemployed for 2 years is not good. As the economy improves so can your options.

Going to your boss and throwing other job offers in their face to get better wages isn't a good plan. It's called ransom. You may get more money for the time being. You're on the short list of ones they can let go once they find a suitable replacement. There are better ways to approach salary issues.

Oh and yeah I'm a Republican, not in denial, and think Sarah Palin is hot!
Then again I also like GW, so there you go...

Reviving the thread, my group at RTI has an immediate need for a good .NET programmer with SQL skills. The text of the job posting calls for 3 years "in an IT environment" and 1 year of .NET experience, but we're happy to hire a mid or even senior level developer if they seem like a good fit.

What is a good fit?
  • Strong programming skills (ASP.NET ideally)
  • Good SQL skills (queries, stored procs, not looking for a DBA)
  • Quick learner
  • Able to work on multiple projects at once, flexible
  • Good team player

This is a permanent position- we are looking for someone to stay and grow with the company. If this sounds like you, or someone you know, please get in touch with me at carlf@rti.org.

See the RTI job posting for (a little) more detail. There is a referral bonus for both of us if you're hired... :D

Thanks!

I'm in the process of hiring an Inside Sales Coordinator and a Part-Time Purchasing Coordinator. Let me know if you know of anyone who may be interested in either of these jobs.

So a friend and neighbor has quit his job after they asked him to work 90-100 hours a week/ 6 days as his standard on a set salary. His was a director for a "logistics" company and was already doing 84-90 hours a week standard and was the "go-to" crissis management person.

So now he is looking for something, but there aren't a lot of job at the level (not salary, but position) that he was at. he has 30 years of logistics manager and large team management.

Anyone know of anything?

We are still looking for 1 or 2 .NET programmers in my group at RTI- they also need to have strong SQL experience. At least 3 years .NET experience needed- PM me for more information. RTI is a great company with excellent benefits!

We need a mid-high level Linux sysadmin again. Run a hundred or so OS installs and the kind of apps you'd expect to see in a large enterprise/SP network. Benefits are good, salary is negotiable. Looking for someone with proven experience running a large install base.

SP VoIP/SAN/Solaris experience is a +

inetwork (bandwidth.com) is the company

We're hiring software developers at Two Toasters. We are a growing mobile services company operating out of the American Tobacco district in downtown Durham focused on building applications for iOS and Android platforms. Experience in mobile development not required. School, development experience, and experience in client services are a plus. Salary is based on skill and experience, benefits are included.

If you (or someone you know) are interested, you can email me at jeremy@twotoasters.com

Our Website: http://twotoasters.com

You can see a picture of our office at the bottom of this article:
