nice Sean. yeh, not like there was any chance this situation could have been the other way around.

and as for the funky junk in the trunk, well only a bunch of "wannabe race car drivers" would have gone out on track with remnants of coolant in the motor.

you'd think we would have know better. especially given our pedigree.

The smart, but possibly slower, guys stayed home so we only had 60 cars start the race. It was cold and rainy Friday for set up and test and tune. I made about 10 T&T laps and came in. The track was just way too slippery and getting wet at 35 degrees isn't fun.
It didn't rain Saturday, but the track was still "damp" until noon. Kendt and Vincent did a great job just getting around the track. Vincent was fast and rear wheel cars were slower. As the track dried out it was clear that the level of competition was higher. Dieter seemed a bit slower than normal, but Magnum PU was flying and in the top 5. We were 20th before the problems.
I got in after Kendt during a long full course yellow because of 5 quarts of oil in turn 14. I got on track right as the green fell. I spun in the oil or oil dry, but only got a stop and go penalty. Still, my fault. The racing line was dry at the end of my time when Cline got in. He did fine until some redneck jerk dive bomb him in turn 12 and hit him. We lost about 20 minutes and had to make a driver change.
Steve was fast, but had a 4 off and the "Chantel" penalty. We probably lost 75 laps on that deal. Steve got back into the car and did well until the finish when he went straight at turn one to keep from being passed at the checkered flag. I guess he thought he had won and was doing donuts?
All the while Magnum PU is near first place and blowing by us frequently.
Ryan whined about some perceived blocking on my part, but I deny all charges and claim "Rubbin is Racin' ".
With about 30 minutes to go the leader blows up and that puts Magnum PU in first place! During the red flag Magnum's brakes caught fire - something about backing plates welding themselves to the piston????
At the end of the day the Dorifto Dogs were 30th about 100 laps down and Magnum PU was 13th, 30 laps down.
We discovered that we had a temp wire to the computer loose that cut down on our power. The Magnum PU guys made repairs and set out to be in the top 5 Sunday.
Dieter was back to normal running sub 103 laps and we still were blown away by many cars. We weren't slower than before. Others were just faster. Steve was doing great as our first driver and then a radiator hose came off and a bunch of water got on the tires. After several spins, him seeing sky, dirt and then coming to rest, he got off track and was towed to the pits. Repair was fast and the penalty light. That's when Steve crapped his pants (not literally).
Cline had another "rubbing" incident" with a minor penalty. We ended up 22nd which was pretty good considering all the issues and how much faster the competition has become.
Magnum PU was driven well and climbed to 5th. They had a brake problem at the end, but held on to the top 5 finish. They had an honest chance to win the race and only mechanical failure kept them from that chance. Their car was really fast and it was driven very well.

Whew what a weekend!!! What Walter said was pretty spot on.

This event was VERY different than the Fall event. VERY few full course cautions and less cars = FASTER. Like WAY faster. When a car broke on track, they would only throw a local yellow and do a hot pull. We were not prepared for that and it bit us in the ass

Scroll to the bottom we were in 2nd place at about 4:30pm when the leader came down the front straight and blew the engine sky high and they had to red flag the event, our brakes caught on fire. After they got everyone going, Chris said the brakes still worked, so he stayed out. At about 5pm Chris called in and said it wasn't safe anymore and he was coming in. So we lost about 30 mins on track. That put us down in 13th place 30 laps down .

Needless to say, we were pretty bummed out but we sourced a new caliper, rotors and pads and bled the brakes for Sunday. Sunday went great (well except for T-11 for Mitch) until I got in the car for the last 1:30 min stint. The first 20 mins were great and then our brakes started to get spongey, for a few laps I could pump them up and they worked fine. After about 10 mins that didn't work, I had brakes but they were really inconsistent, so I just backed it down and pointed everyone by just to get to the end of the race. We made to the checkered flag in 5th place 39 laps down.

We had a blast and learned a ton for the next race.

The Grim Reaper team was doing well in their Mustang until they had a total rear end failure Saturday afternoon.

They provided great food again and nice social times in the tent. We all chipped in and rented a big tent with sides to keep us dry and warm. Vincent's propane heater kept us warm Friday. We would have been miserable without the tent and heater. It is very nice to have all your meals at the track, especially when it food is good. Chili for lunch is perfect when you are cold. Hot dogs with chili for lunch too. Steak and grilled chicken for dinner with huge potatoes is good too.

Kendt will have video in a week or two.

DITTO, I vote no chili next time. It might have added some HP but it was not comfortable.

Just to be specific on my "incidents" Crx Harley Douche Bag dive bombs me in 12 I back off and knock of some plastic, pass him in first 50 yards of straight catch up with a ton of traffic in 1 he DIVE BOMBS between 5 cars, I really don't think he broke at all. Goes up on two wheel s and hits somebody else, otherwise he would have flipped. Go to penalty box he gets out while lighting a L&M, says he is not trying to kill anybody. Says I hit him twice. I think Judge Johnny sees through it, just has us sit out for a while.

Sunday I come around turn 14 and a supra is sideways about 5 cars trying to avoid I got bumped in rear might have hit supra went off track 4 wheels, never black flagged. Moral of the story if judges don't see it, it never happend.

BtW Crxhdb had another contact with tin foil camaro, same story, same cigarette. I think the guy was having DT's from nicotine and would get mean after a while. At that point they had been in 6 times and I think they got sent home after the next time.


HAD A FRIGGIN GREAT TIME! BTw Chantelle was using my shoes and gloves.
