Mike, I doubt you'll ever go the pony car route - but if you want to take a test drive in my 2007, give me a call. Then go buy that zO6. We don't want to see you in FS :P

As far as I know, Mike didn't make an AX last year. I don't think you've got anything to worry about :)

If it means anything, I sold my very heavily modified 99 Cobra when I bought the stock 03 C5Z06... and cannot be happier. This comes after being in magazines, newspapers, tee shirts, trophies, television, etc. with that 99 Cobra. The C5Z06 (02-04) is just that good of a car that I was willing to part with something that I had invested tens of thousands of dollars and thousands of hours in over numerous years.

On top of that, I am immediately several seconds faster per lap at each track we visit with the bone stock Z06 vs the Cobra. The peak horsepower and torque numbers of both cars are close, but the broader torque curve, less weight, improved weight bias, etc. of the Z06 just kicks the Cobra's butt.

Pony cars are "lots of bang for relatively few bucks" sedans. Corvettes are lots of bang for more bucks sports cars. The only reasons not to get a Vette are $$$ and you don't actually "want" one. I don't know for sure, but based on my experience in Miles Beam's C4, it may be faster in autocrossing than any Pony car. Probably down on HP for open track but probably any C5 would run with or blow away most, if not, all Pony cars.

Dick (who doesn't really "want" a Vette . . . just like I don't want a Porsche Turbo, etc.)

This was pretty wild to see a 20 year old Vette do this at nationals. It looks like torque prevailed over the S2k's lightness and nimble handling.

LOL, I never really wanted a Vette, I always had a thing for Mustangs.

My wife called me an A-hole enough that I figured I might as well get the car that most A-holes own. Now I gotta start working on my gold chain collection and my fake tan.

Go with the spray on tan...with a good air brush job you can have great looking abs.

Well, what I really want is a Ferrari 575 Maranello. Bang for the buck has it place, but...

while I'm not blue blooded Ford guy, I have the pony car 'cuz if fits me head room wise. Bang for the buck, it is a fun car and there's ton's of mod's available for it. Now, if I had my wish, I'd already have Mike's e39 540 in my garage....

I'll trade ya for the Mustang. I'll even throw in a new pine scent air freshener.

Make it 2 air fresheners and a set of mud flaps and you've got a deal!
