Porsche AG, revealed today the brand new 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 R at the Racing Car Show Autosport International in Birmingham (Great Britain), a new model designed to replace the 911 GT3 Cup S in Porsche Motorsports’ model range.

The new vehicle carries the four-litre six-cylinder boxer engine delivering 480 hp (353 kW) and matted to a six-speed sequential gearbox which transmits the power to the rear axle.

Based on the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup presented in September 2009, the 1,200 kg lightweight 911 GT3 R received a 0.2-liter increase in engine capacity, and delivers 30 hp more than its Cup pendant. Also, the car comes with an anti-lock brake system (ABS), traction control and an e-gas with “throttle-blip” function. “Since we first announced our intention to launch the 911 GT3 R, demand has been huge.

The number of GT3 R vehicles we had planned for 2010 is almost sold out.” says Uwe Brettel, Head of Motorsport Sales. From spring 2010, customer teams around the world will receive their new vehicles. The basic price is 279,000 Euro plus national VAT.

I'm fairly certain that you can have this car in any color you want as long as it is white.

Donnie, since so many of us live vicariously through you, please buy one of these. I would but, I don't like that rear wheel flare. (HA,HA)

I briefly considered buying one of these as my next 13 hour car. Then I realized "where's the fun in THAT?" I mean really, who wants to just buy something out of the box that runs like 1:50 with a hack behind the wheel and can go all day? Not me. I want a CHALLENGE. That's why instead I'm going to develop a Pontiac Aztek!

Seriously, my race budget doesn't include one of these, either. I sure wish it did. I mean dang, that's one seriously bad-ass piece of machinery. But even so, the thought of using it at the 13 is just funny. I mean put that on the same track with 40+ Spec Miatas? And SRFs? NO. IT MUST NOT BE DONE.
