Don't get me wrong, GO Georgia Tech. But as our esteemed elected officials have already realized, this system sucks. I hear even the Republicans agree with me on this issue.

This evening The Orange Bowl is on the tube and no game so far this post season has less to do with the ultimate finishing order of the top 10 teams in college football this past season.

Why you may ask is this a concern? This, The Orange Bowl game, is the penultimate Bowl Championship Series game of the 2009 season. As such it is supposed to lead up to the championship game to decide the eventual number one team for 2009. Sadly, the teams playing tonight are at best also-rans and have no bearing on the final standings.

The system has dealt itself a dud. I blame television marketing. If this game were still played on New Years Eve as it was in my youth this might not be such a sad example of wasted effort with no viable benefit. It's the 5th of January, why should i still give a snort about college football?

Go Tech!!!! 8)

The ONLY thing college football has right is the overtime system.

But I agree... it's one thing for the NFL to become commercialized... but there are simply TOO many bowl games for anyone's good. I mean, who the hell wants to win the Cheetos Bowl?

+1

The D2 playoffs seem to go well, unfortunately their bigger brother will never go to that system.
