I sure am glad I've never done a burnout because that would make me ignorant and testosterone-fueled!

You're missing my point. He's ignorant because he doesn't know what the hell he's doing (if I jumped into a Z06 and tried to smoke 'em without any experience, I'd be in the same boat).

I saw your ECU video laying down rubber. You should give this fellow some lessons when he gets his car outta the shop!

No problem. A lot of guys don't know how to do a burnout. You would be surprised how many guys take a car to the drag strip and don't know how to use (or not use) the water box to get their tires ready. You don't warm up street tires - just a little spin to clean them up. Drag radials - water, 2nd gear and a line lock work well.
That guy didn't turn off his traction control or whatever that Corvette uses. The key in saving the clutch is not having a stock one and then getting the rpms up in the engine's power curve. Then, pop the clutch and hold the rpms.
Dustin beat me because I didn't do a good burnout.

11.33 @ 124 was the best I ever got out of it. Of course, that was full weight on pump gas with somewhat stiff H&R Race springs. It was fun!

The stock C6 Z06 clutch is good to well over 550whp, so in this case it's not the clutch at fault. The driver just needed to hold down the traction control/stability control button for 7 seconds to fully disable it.

With the stock runflats on the base C6, a launch at 5k rpms without any brakes will immediately ignite the tires when they are cool. Keeping the revs up you will can easily use your left foot on the brake and hold a burnout as long as you would ever want. Why someone would want to do this is a whole other story. - AB
