WTB: OEM 99-05 Miata spoilers. Like you'd see on a '99 Sport.

For the rear, I'm looking for the low one, not the wing looking one. I'd prefer black, but if the price is right, any color would do. I could wrap it. Alternatively, an entire black trunk lid with the spoiler already on it might be good too. I'm told the spoiler requires drilling the panel.

For the front one, I'd need specifically a 99-00, as the 01-05 chin spoiler is different and won't work. Mazdaspeed shows one, painted, for $200ish. I'll probably go that route, but I figured I'd ask here just in case. I think I'd need this to be black, it's too complex a piece to wrap.

Thanks!

Alec has a trunk. It's baby puke orange, but it has a spoiler on it.

$50? (you're going to have to wait until he gets back into town)

Andrew that sounds good to me.

Have you ever had one of those spoilers off a trunk to see the back side of it? Apparently the spoilers require holes to be drilled through the trunk lid. I wonder if those fasteners could be bypassed/ground off/etc, and substitute some really strong 3M trim tape.

I can take a look at it along with a picture tomorrow. I am going to be out of town again starting Monday but back again at the end of the week.

Dont OEM parts have to be mounted as the OEM part would be mounted? im not very much up on stock class (or whatever its called now) rules anymore, but skipping out and grinding off parts that are there from the factory just doesn't sound like it fits.

Either way, you will never see a protest from me on the topic.

Thanks Alec. Whenever you think about it; this is a project that will take place over weeks or months.

Jason, that's a fair observation. Honestly, I'm not real worried about it in this case. This is already going to end up being a "99 Sport" that happens to have power windows and a tan interior.

Btw Alec, I think I'd also new the spring that hold the trunk open. Is that right?

The trunk springs are on the chassis but I can throw those in along with the trunk, it is just a few easy to access bolts to remove them.

Great thanks! Let me know if I can throw you some cash for the springs. It would be pretty annoying to have a trunk that won't stay open.

Karl, Is there a different part number for the spring? There are two positions where the spring mounts on each side, adjusting from one to the other should provide more lift for the trunk. At least that's how it is on my NA.

Actually, I don't know. I've seen the spoilers for sale, and pictures of the item showed a set of trunk springs. I made the leap that they were part of the "kit," so to speak, if you buy the spoiler from Mazda, but maybe not sold on their own. S2000 spoilers were the same way, IIRC. The spoilers, which were dealer installed options, came with stronger springs.

I'm only interested in the springs so I don't lock my keys in my trunk one day.

Edit: I'll try and look for some kind if adjustment.

I know not a spoiler but I have that grille off my car if you want it.

Are you going to NCAC?

Unfortunately I'm not. I came down with some day care ick a couple weekends ago, so we moved our anniversary dinner to this weekend. We're going to Chef and the Farmer. Can't wait. 8)

EDIT: Oh, and yes, I'd like that grille. Thanks for setting it aside for me! When I inevitably have to replace this leaky condenser, this will help stop rocks from ruining the new one.
