Will trade car parts, lift usage, beer. etc for use of a log splitter for a week or so this fall. Anyone?

Dustin has everything else, I'd be shocked if log splitter wasn't on his list.

Anyone want to "buy in" a share on one of these?

http://www.harborfreight.com/5-ton-log- ... 61373.html

I probably only need it once every couple of years. Want to get a group of 4-5 people to co-own it, and pass along to other owners as needed.

Share cost is $50, will limit to 4-5 people. Let me know!

Are these available at those equipment rental places?

Rentals are available for like $100 a day. If I get 5 people together for $50 each, we all benefit.

Admittedly the rental ones are much nicer/more powerful/faster, but I don't need it.

That is a steep rental price.

Yep, especially since I bought a cord of seasoned Oak last season for $200, and that included delivery and stacking.

I considered one of these, but the max log length is 18". My wood stove accepts 22" wood so the shorter wood doesn't last over night. I'm currently working my way through 1-1/2 cords using a maul and the Harbor Freight slide hammer splitter. The slide hammer works pretty well, especially if your aim with the maul is not perfect.
