Probably not many of you know David Stone. He was a long time club member, and a Car Guys instructor, from way back in the day. He's selling his '90 Civic hatchback track car, and asked me to post the details here.

FS: 1990 Civic DX Hatchback

This was my daily driver / track / autocross car. It has 175k miles on it. It has a Dennis Shaw built D16 engine that is legal for IT racing. The new engine has approximately 32k miles on it. It has an aftermarket intake, a DC sports header, and a 2-1/4" exhaust. It has ground control coil overs with tokico adjustable shocks and a suspension techniques adjustable rear sway bar. Most of the interior has been removed along with the sound deadening to reduce weight. It has a 4 point autopower roll bar. Included are 3 extra sets of rims, 2 - 13" and 1 - 14". Asking $3200.

Editorial comment: my memory of this car is that it was really fast. Dennis Shaw is quite an engine builder and I'm sure the motor is very good. I haven't seen the car in many years, so I can't speak for its condition.

David is good people, and if I wanted an EF hatchback, I'd have probably bought this one long ago. Just the motor is worth what he's asking for the entire car.

Does this car have the basic bits to be a good candidate for STC?

I'm not a rule guy, but I depending what's been done to it, I don't think the motor would be legal, no? Does ST still have rules regarding how much of the interior can be removed?

I really don't know that either and was being a bit lazy and not looking up the engine rules

Yes I kinda assumed interior bits would need to be added. I am considering selling the RX8 and am looking at some alternatives.

ST engine rules allow for bolt on exterior parts only. Intake, Exhaust, ECU, header, etc. Engine must be the same as the original VIN determines. - AB

Most ITA motors aren't going to even be *SP legal.

I don't know anything about the engine itself. David did say it was legal, but he didn't say it was maximized. Also, I don't think this car would be STC legal because it's not a Civic Si. It's a Dx with an Si engine in it.

Don't worry, I am looking at a really nicely done car now. 8)
