Its so. CM and this car have been GREAT. Nothing like driving a real race car where all the Carroll Smith stuff applies. No way a stock street car is even close. However, it is time to move on after over 20 years. I'm not so much a mustang convert (my first autocross was in my new 69 Mustang 351 GT and I've owned a total of 5 so far including the 2 we currently have) as simply ready to simplify the overall autocross experience. This year's mustang limo experience worked out pretty well (except Kelly misses the RV) so what I really intend to do is get a "properly equipped" 2015/16 Mustang to ride into my "more mature years".

On the "can't fit" part... Question for Dick... I am curious what do you would be the max height and waist size that would fit?

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

Hard question but here is some info:

How tall and heavy are you? How wide are your hips and how "solid" is the width? Quick measurements show about 13.5 inch "at the floor/seat belt mount" tubes but about 16 inches above the tubes from the bodywork to bodywork. There is more width from bodywork to bodywork at shoulder level. Maybe 21 inches. The distance from the pedal arms (assuming the pedal pads are screwed in to be tight against the arms) to the seat near the floor is about 40 inches. The top of the roll hoop is about 38 inches above the garage floor. The car floor is less than 2 inches above the garage floor and is only thin aluminum sheet once the 1/8 inch thick fiberglass seat is removed. Plus the seating position is reclined.

I'm about the shortest male CM driver I've seen so my car has custom pedal pads so my legs can reach the pedals and even then I need a 2 part foam pad behind my back and I still use the space consuming fiberglass shell "seat". The original pedals are in the parts collection.

The 85 VD Brandon Lavender just won CM with has been driven by a least one over 6 foot guy with no problem and another bigger guy who expressed interest in my car "test fit" Brandon's this year at Nationals and said it had more room than the newer VD he was co-driving.

Foot size assuming racing shoes or smaller are an issue that would have to be tried. I suspect up to about size 10 would be "easy".

So regarding my size, I am a "big guy". I am 6'5" and 280lbs stocky built. I could stand to loose some weight, but my ideal wouldn't be radically less than I am now. Standard sized race seats are too narrow for me. Bone to bone I am around 16-17" at my hips. I also have size 13 feet.

I did some reading regard people my size and FF cars. Some can fit, but it usually is in older cars (likely older than yours). Due to aero concerns newer cars got smaller and smaller. It's highly likely the foot box area would be my largest issue. The idea of having a car like yours is attractive to me, but I pretty much knew the answer (likely to not fit and if I fit, I likely will not be comfortable) when I asked but was curious as to what you felt.

Good luck on the sale. I need to focus on finishing the 914 anyhow.

Richard

Car, parts, and engine are sold and may show up at a local autocross within a day's drive (not in NC) of Raleigh as soon as tomorrow!

Hopefully the new owner will enjoy it as least as much as we have during the 23 years we owned it. Learned a LOT and had a lot of good times with it.

The trailer may be sold. Next on the block will our Class B RV that has been seen at autocrosses since 1992.

Trailer has been sold.

The camper van is next after we "detail" it, take pictures, etc.
