WTB: set of 245/40/17 autocross tires for the Focus ST

If anyone has a set of take-offs with 3/32nds or more, drop me a line. I just need a set to get me through about a 1/2 dozen local autocrosses before I obliterate these OE Goodyears. Normally, I'd just get a set from TireRack but I'm not sure what my plans are with the car.

I've got the hard part figured out at least, the wheels. Damn 108x5 bolt patterns are for the birds btw! :lol:

I've updated the title and am thinking 245/40/17 is ideal for gearing and grip.

If anyone has a set off a Lemons/Chump car or their auto-x car, drop me a line. The wheels are arriving today from Tire Rack and ran with a set of Modas to drop about 5# at each corner. :sing:

Thanks for the heads up. He messaged me about them on the ST forums but a 255 is a shade too big for the 8" rim.

Talk me out of the ones on the BRZ. I'd love some new tires. Mine are Dunlop Z1's, the same ones you drove the car on quite some time ago. One might have a patch and plug, but we don't talk about that.

I really want to try out the new Hankooks.

10mm ain't that big of a difference. Would it rub somewhere? Cheap rubber is cheap rubber...

There's not much logic to the madness, but 245 is stretching it with 255 section width Hankooks because they have the softest sidewall and running wider STs on stock size wheels sorta yields diminishing returns. On r-comps you can run crazy oversized stuff and still maintain grip. I'm leaning toward a new set of Hankook 245's that are supposed to handle the cold well too and about ~$100 less than the soon to be obsolete ZII.

Matt, still looking for tires? I have a set off our Lemons car 245/45R17 Falken Azenis RT615K. We will be buying a new set in the next few weeks. They are down to the wear bar. Let me know if you need them and we can work something out.
