Getting to the spark plugs is a bit of a pain in the ass. Subaru eventually found out a way to make the head gasket not blow every 100k miles.

Oh yeah, it'll get significantly less miles per gallon than the Mazda 3 and you'll wind up replacing all of the wear items because you refuse to have nice things. :P

Can I interest you in a 2007 Subaru Outback 2.5i with 139k - with a rare 5spd?

The following parts with 3 months on them:
Spark plugs
Plug wires
Front axles
Fronts axle seals
Front brake pads
Valve cover gaskets
Accessory belts & idler
Timing belt, auto-adjuster & idlers
Power steering pump o-ring
Air filter
Engine oil & filter
Tranny fluid
Coolant and conditioner

Oh, did I mention it has a wicked rod knock? :(

Cash

Cash, I think I'll pass on that wonderful offer, but it does make me think about what I'm looking at. I'm hoping that's not a common problem w/ the rod knock.

So I'm actually looking for something w/ an autotragic to use as a spare car. I had to recently work on the wife's car and wound up carting her to school and back, so I need an automatic in a 3rd car. I've given up on trying to find a nice e46 touring w/ out a sunroof and I don't fit in an e46 that has a sunroof. I actually fit into a e39 touring w/ a sunroof, but finding a nice example of one of those is tough. I like the Audi A3-A4, but if oil changes weren't done on time, that leads to some serious issues.

Suggestions? Just looking for something nice to drive. I'll keep the mustang as the toy for now.

It doesn't have to last too long with Rodney. He will most likely have it for 3 months and then get bored with it and look for a good used Mazda 3 to replace it with.

Like the scorpion and the frog - he can't fight nature. :-)

Rob, This is far from the truh with Rodney... he will most likely end up with another mustang or BMW when he is tired of it.
