1995 VW GOLF GTI VR6, 5 speed - 207,931 miles Red
This was Tom Morris' car originally. He autocrossed it and did HPDE Events. It still has the bolts for a 5 point harness and the backing plates from the roll bar. He sold it to a friend of mine and I bought it last May as back-up transportation. Chuck Miller at Millersport Porsche in Hillsborough checked the car out for me and has done most of the maintenance on it. We have three cars at or over 200,000 miles so it's time to get something a bit newer and this will be way easier to sell than my 1988 Buick

We spent $4,000 on it last summer addressing issues and getting her fixed up. No trouble since then, other than a new power window unit.
Millersport did a leak down test on the car last May and here were the results by cylinder:
1 - 10%
2 - 3%
3 - 10%
4 - 5%
5 - 7%
6 - 3%
The motor runs great and only burns a little oil. Chuck was amazed at the excellent condition of the motor. We replaced front lower control arm bushings, plugs, plug wires, belt, brake fluid, had other fluids checked, wiper blades, new rear sway bar bushings installed. We also had new Koni STR (orange shocks) installed with new boots and bump stops. It got a new clutch, shift fork, master and slaves cylinders at Southern States VW Durham in June. That's where I was when the clutch died, so that's why they did the work instead of Millersport. We also had a body shop install new lower rocker panels that I tracked down in California. They securely reattached the problematic molding that often falls off.
The good:
A/C ran great this past October, haven't run it since. Actually coldest A/C of any car I've been in.
Heated seats work!
Interior really good shape.
Paint in decent shape
Tom Morris put Neuspeed springs, front & rear bars on the car, a strut tower brace, and K&N air fliter.
Comes with Borbet wheels *plus* a stock set
Service manual
Extra set of new brake pads, thrermostat, and oil filter.
Freshly rebuilt set of rear Koni Yellow single adjustables. I had them rebuilt by Koni at Nationals. They put a valving similar to the Corrado. Koni said they are now probably 50% stiffer than original.
I have a lot of the service records dating back to when Tom bought the car.
Car is fast in high revs, I've actually babied the car for the most part.
Bad:
Cracked fog light lens
Cruise does not work
Sunroof catches when opens and won't close on it's own.
Could use a new muffler, a little noisy due to rust.
Two inch tear/wear spot in drivers seat.
Squeak from right front of car, doesn't seem to be anything serious.
Wiper fluid won't spray
Lock cylinders for each doors need to be reattached. I have them both.
