Just wanted to throw this out there, but I'm planning on selling the bullitt. I'm going to buy the Mazda 3 from Matt McGrain and throw it around for a few years while I get my finances in order.

The bullitt is in excellent shape and I'll be posting all the details later this evening. Just wanted to let you know it's for sale before it hits autotrader.

EDIT:
Pictures added to the description.....

There has got to be a "better way" of getting finances in order!!! :(

However getting finances in order is certainly a high priority when time to do so is getting shorter . . . been there, done that.

Maybe do what I did after "life changed" in 2002. Back way off on competition expenses and keep the same cars for the next 10 years or more. Works if you happen to LIKE the cars you have at the time (97 and 01 Mustang GTs and a CM race car) :)

Good luck!!!

OK, someone buy this from me, I'd like to see it stay in club....

************************************************************

This is Ford’s tribute car to the movie Bulliitt, staring Steve McQueen, and I think they did a great job and it is by far, or at least in my opinion, one of the best looking mustangs there is. There is nothing over the top about this car, it’s very understated. This is the only mustang that does not have a running horse or other emblem on the grill. There is no hood scope, stripes, spoilers or wings on this car.

This particular Bullitt is serial number 5386 of 6624 ever produced and I’m the 2nd owner of this car. Here’s the list of options w/ the car….

> Addco front sway bar w/ upgraded mounting hardware
> Strano rear sway bar
> Koni yellow shock/struts
> Maximum Motorsports camber/caster plates
> UMI panhard bar
> Vogtland springs, lowers the car about an inch
> MGW short shifter, no more missed 3rd gear shifts
> SCT hand held tuner w/ Breenspeed tune for 87/89&93 octane
> MRT custom shift knob w/ 5386 serial number
> 40% window tint, NC legal
> trailer hitch rated at 2000lb w/ powered 4point electrical connector
> sound deadening install in tire well in the trunk
> air pump and tire slime replaced w/ a factory spare tire, jack and iron.
> additional trunk mat w/ pony emblem
> upgraded plush floor mats, front and rear.
> smoked front turn signals, originals included
> Dr. Color chip paint kit

The Bullitt car itself had some very nice upgrades from Ford. Those being…

> Dark Highland Green paint.
> upgraded GT500 seats w/ better side bolstering
> upgraded GT500 leather wrapped steering wheel w/ Bullitt center cap
> Bullitt sill plates
> Bullitt gunsight rear faux gas cap
> Bullitt gunsight gauges
> Ford upgraded ECM, senses 87/89/92 gas and increases HP based on the gas you use
> Shaker 500 stereo
> unique Bullitt painted wheels
> unique machine turned dash
> RPM bumped to 6500
> this bullitt also had the optional HID head lights and Sirius radio
> 58k miles on the odo, still has a few miles left on the factory drive train warranty.

I’ve taken very good care of this car and oil changes were performed at every 5k miles using Castrol 5w20 as recommended.

This car needs nothing and is ready to roll, it’s just looking for a new owner. If you take an average from NADA, KBB and Edmunds, I come up around $19700 for car. I’m selling to the club for 19,500 and that includes everything listed above that was added to the car, 2 extra sets of wheels and tires (listed below) AND includes all of the factory suspension items and shifter and shift knob. This is a great buy.

> 1 set of four FR500 knockoff wheels, 18x10 w/ Hankook RS-3’s, 285 width used for autox, 50% tread left
> 1 set of four factory wheels, 18x8.5 w/ Bridgestone snows

I am going to miss this car considering it took me over a year to find the "right" one, but I have other things I need to get taken care of right now. In a few years I'll have another nice car and one I won't have to worry about the sunroof in. I'll just keep the mazda 3 to autox, seems to be a very fun car. If this doesn’t sell to a club member, I’m going to take off all of the go fast parts off and sell it stock. I’d really rather not have to do all that work, so please buy it from me!

It's going to hit CL and autotrader at 19500 without the 2 sets of tires.

And 6 months from now we will see a post from Rodney saying "Help me decide on a new car" I'm looking at this BMW with no sunroof, a Mustang I saw on the Ford Forum, a Golf GTI, and did someone say a Mini comes without a sunroof? I'm thinking of selling my Mazda 3 and while it is an excellent commuter, I just want something with more hp to drive in anger........

The forum will last for 8 pages and Rodney will eventually buy a Blue Mustang......or maybe a gray BMW 3 series

LOL, probably very true Rob. Plan on buying something nice in a few years, I'm thinking sometime mid '15. If the concept mustangs I've seen come to fruition, then there may be another in my future.

The Bullitt was car #41 for me, so this makes the mazda #42. I have a target of at least 50. There are SO many nice cars out there I want to sample.

Are you ever so slightly ADHD?

You need to just work it out so you have a series of extended test drives. After you test drive the blue car you can return it with some squared off tires and a few cone marks and tell the dealer that you just didn't like it as much as you thought and the next week test drive the green one to see if you like it better LOL

Rodney, I'm glad it's staying in the club, at least for a few months anyway.

The R is only #12 for me in seventeen years of driving but I know a fellow that's a few years younger and is picking up #101 today. He didn't mind me sharing a pretty awesome collage of his 'acquisitions' through the years. Wow...

A 928 and an old Econoline Pickup :-) But also about 25 Civics. Cheaper to just buy 1 and keep it and just keep modifying and unmodifying it and painting it different colors so you think you have a new car

As Rodney and I were discussing over beers, I'm apparently doing it wrong. I have owned 19 or 20 cars over 34 years (12 of which I bought new), but I have only sold two and I have never traded in a car.

I doing it even more wrong that you Cash. Over 31 years I've owned just *8 cars, and 5 of those 8 were new. I still own 4 of those 8!

*Not counting my 1/4th ownership of our Lemons Prelude or my 1/5th of the General Lei.
