I can't speak for Donnie, but I'm really not a fan of most "vintage" things. I like old American muscle cars, but even some of those have issues I'd fix.

FYI, my M-edition Miata came stock with a Nardi wood shift knob and e-brake handle. I pitched both in the trash pretty quick and replaced them with billet aluminum pieces.

I like old British and Italian sports car, but I'm not a purist. I'd put every piece of wood on eBay and replace it with something more appropriate for a sports car.

I don't like anything British and "car" really, but I agree with the above on Italian.

My favorite bumper sticker of all time was on a British something-or-other at VIR and read "The parts falling off this car are of the highest British workmanship." Or something like that.

ok I am really not mad. Its just fun to use those emoticons sometimes. I like to think of myself as "Not a typical Porsche owner" and I am sure a typical Porsche owner wouldn't want me to be part of his club. But I have to say I know a number of good guys who own a Porsche and don't fit the stereotype. I still want the 917 shift knob.

My Navigator has a wood steering wheel, its pretty sweet, the Corvette, MX-5, Cobra, not so much and that is the way it should be.

Mike, I like the car in every way except the steering wheel, red is so much better an exterior color than silver on that car. If you can replace the steering wheel with something that still allows for an airbag, looks good, and doesn't have wood, I'd think it was a great choice.

Yeah, that really is one of the biggest strengths of the C5 Z06, the outstanding seats/interior, an standard all other cars should be based upon.

Speaking of rare color combinations, check this one out that I found on my search for a decent 330i sport. I like it, but I wouldn't want to have to look at it every day. It's on a 330xi 5-speed sport package car, also unicorn. Someone really unusual ordered that sucker from the factory...

Dick I never answered your question before. Over the years I have gotten comfortable with scouring the internet and developing gut-reflex opinions and completely ignoring useful and credible tech info

When it comes to cars, a lot of times for me the chaos (mental, physical, and financial) that comes with major platform changes is just a fun learning experience and escape from real life that I have found I never regret. Have I hated some things about some cars I've owned? Absolutely. Have some risks I have taken bitten me? For sure. But if I had to do it all over again there isn't much I would change about the 30+ cars I've bought, learned about on the fly, and cared for.
