The other times he was spoken to by fellow CMC drivers about it and told the honorable thing would be to DQ himself. If he had given the spot back, then he realized the mistake, did the right thing, hopefully learned and started to gain some respect back from other competitors. No reason to go to the parents (race control) about it. Plus they would ask if I got my position back, I would have said yes and that would be the end of it.
Plus a good way to spoil a weekend is having to trudge up to race control instead of drinking beers and exchanging stories about the race just completed.
