SFI vs. Non-SFI Rated Roll Bar Padding

In other threads, some have expressed the belief that non SFI rated high density padding is not flame retardant. This generalization is not true. After speaking with a racing products store near Lowes Motor Speedway by the name of BSR Products, I have learned that their non-SFI rated high density padding is the exact same material and is flame rated.

None of the NASCAR teams use SFI rated padding. They have chosen not to allow SFI to extort money from their teams when NASCAR knows that the product is exactly the same.

SFI padding: $18.95
Non-SFI padding: $10.95

The SFI stickers cost 5$ each. Retailers naturally mark that up too. As a result you wind up paying $8 more for the same stick of padding. Sadly, it appears that SCCA has played right into the hands of SFI.

The SCCA GCR states padding must beEthafoam,Ensolite or other
similar material one inch minimum thick..padding meeting SFI.45.1
IS RECOMENDED. (my emphasis)

I asked for input on the tech guide and this is appropriate so please send me an email so I can track such revisions and make them in one go.

We will accept "high density" padding with or without the sticker.
