That was probably one of my least favorite track experiences. The registration is a pain, the daily tech thing is a pain, the lack of classroom sucked and South course (IMO) is probably the worse course in the area especially since they only allow passing on the front stretch.

I would save my money and go to CMP with THSCC & AV instead.

Yeah, your in, saw you on the roster. We love you because your car is the illegitimate second cousin of the Porsche family.

Jim, your just jealous cause there are Pguys that are buffer than you and you don't want to shave your chest and go tanning to compete!

Ah yes, daily tech. Mark Cooper gave me a heads up that these guys were serious about checking brake pads ... so I slapped a new set on before the event. First morning of tech they warned me the pads were getting low. Guess they don't see many Miatae.

I actually enjoyed the event. Two days on South and then a day on Full was a good mix. One or two folks seemed to like passing w/o a point but once you learned who they were it was, well, expected.

I would have to shave my chest and back...Camaro drivers have higher levels of testosterone, thus more hair to shave than others :D

I forgot about their brake pad fetish! The dude shines a little flashlight towards my interlaced wheels and says my pads are shot. Since they were brand new, I rolled my eyes and promised to change them before hitting the track...idiot.

When the Porsche took out Mathew and then they tried to pin the blame on him in our only "classroom" session, I just washed my hands of that group.

Jim, I am sure you are correct on the back hair thing.

After going to 3 PCA events I have determined that that incident was Matthews fault. I have now done it 3 or 4 times myself. If you have audacity to be faster than a Pcar while driving a lesser marque then they get extremely flustered in the turns and let off the pedal on the right and then that nice little boxer engine decides it will pass the front tires. This happens really bad if the take the inside line on south course in turn 6, they think they are about to get tboned and they really poopy in their pants.

I really enjoyed running with Coca's group and the Carolina PCA group. I would recommend those two organizations in a heart beat.

I take full responsibility. Hopefully I can represent in my new yet slower car, but avoid the sheet metal damage.

I must say that incident did leave a poor taste in my mouth. I still watch the video wishing I had done this or that, but hindsight is hindsight. What bothered me most was not the incident itself, but the aftermath capped with the inaccuracy Jim mentioned.

The story that was told to the group was that I hit the 911 that had stopped off course. What REALLY happened was the 911 lost it in Bitch. He had spun about 45 deg off toward center track or slightly track right so I committed to taking my car as far track left as possible. He tried to save it which snapped him back into other direction toward my planned escape route to the point he was 90 deg to the track and I was aimed T-Bone style at the driver side.

I hit the brakes and looked for safe harbor. Now this is where I made the wrong choice. I should have aimed dead at where his car was, but I was not certain he'd be clear or that I could scrub enough speed if he did not slide off the asphalt out of the way. I edged off the track into the grass and he continued to spin toward the same spot I was headed. My rear quarter pretty much stopped his spin and I still had some momentum into the tire wall.

I think I could have avoided it had I stayed on the asphalt. It would have been very ugly though if that was the not to be. I don't even care about blame. But after I verbally explained it, showed video and wrote a detailed incident report, hearing that I hit a car stopped off track did not land well.

I'm ready to move on though. So this year, I've registered as Jim and plan to escorted from VIR.

the avatar is priceless Matthew. frickin' beetle bug cars spin like a possessed turtle on acid. i had one snap spin in turn one @ VIR as i chased him thru the turn. i went inside and damn if he didn't snap into my path. fortunately i had room to dart to the outside.

give them enough room and still ruffle their feathers and the entertainment value is well worth the price of admission.

of course some times the P-car boys will exact some payback. T-Roy in his GT-3 gave me quite a scare last year. but in his own words "he knew what he was doing"

You do have this thing for T-Roy don't you. You can't mention a P-car without talking about him

Yeah, but did you? That's what rules are for and why they should be followed.

T.Roy pulled the same stunt on me once, but I saw him in the mirrors in time to throw him a point as he started to pass. Before I threw the point he never even lifted on his approach (GT3's give one the right of way you know ) I treated it like a TT pass and we got lucky it worked. Those GT3's will pop up behind you in flash! (and I really want one :) )

Their tech is a PITA. They lectured and warned me about performing my own tech last year. I suppose they thought I was a bucket of bolts to get in the way of their P cars and cause debris flags. I think this year I'll sign tech as being inspected by Ralph Lutlow of rrroadster Motorsports.

Paris for President!

I didn't know they gave you so much grief. I wish I had because I was right behind you when it happened and it was all like you said. From my angle it looked like you did everything you could, guy going squirrely in front of you so you tried to give plenty of room.I would have been glad to have been your star witness. That same week end there was some guy there in a pristine older 911 who did the same thing in front of me in 2 then next session in 3. I have also had an all wheel drive Carrera do the same in 2-3 of full course, I'm still trying to figure how he did that. I have learned to give those guys plenty of room for the first few sessions until I can decide who can drive or not.

Steve, maybe T-roy wants to rent the upstairs of the Villa.

Add about 15 more of those things and you have a sense of how my weekends are  This past race at VIR, there was a huge screw up in the grid and they released the CMC cars between the AI/FFR and the GT/SP cars. It was about 3/4 of lap before we were swarmed by GT/SP cars. Made for a harrowing experience.

Not to beat a dead horse. But the chatter on that incident really made me realize how much I missed running with you guys. I've run into good folks in most of the clubs, but this is best.
