A friend of mine is coming to this event for the first time with Tarheel and CMP. His name is Buddy Holt and he has a red firebird. He is a VIR club member and has done a couple of races also. Does anybody have any good video of CMP I could share with him. I think he also might welcome a ride with somebody to get a feel for the track. I told him we were a great bunch of guys and he would have a good time.

Here is a video from a Honda Challenge race. Obviously lots of traffic, but enough to give an idea of where the place goes, and what's different with the new layout.

Here'a a video of a ride along in May this year. Mark Senior has some good footage too of an SCCA race he drove there. I'm sure there's plenty of good stuff on youtube.

Hey Cline,

Here's a lap from June of this year on CMP's new configuration. Tell Buddy it's me, we know each other. Are you sure he's bringing the Firebird? He's got a red '96 'Vette he tracks too.

On a different note, who's going down to CMP on Thursday? Want to get together for dinner?

Kevin, that looked like a really good lap. Nice work.

It's going to take my brain a few laps to figure out the new layout - every time I watch video of the new one, I keep expecting the old 90 degree corners for 12 and 13.

That was a little tough at first. Luckily, I only had one prior weekend there. So it was not much to unlearn.

Here is a video from the Saturday race...a couple of Mustangs and a Camaro battling. Gives you a nice example of different lines(?) and techniques. Lesson learned, catch third gear out of 8!

Thanks Karl. The following lap was a couple of 10ths quicker. It started where the posted one ended. Thing is, I pushed T1 a little too hard and yelled $h!+! My camera's audio is apparently real good. I haven't yet figured out how to edit audio when creating .wmf files, so I haven't posted on the internet.

Bernie, I'll call you sometime Wednesday nite or vice versa. If you don't have my number PM me. I'm hoping for an ETA of 5:00, but wouldn't you know, work is getting in the way of preparation.

Woohooo, the engine in the hardtop is done and I took it to the tuner last night. This will be the first time I have had the hardtop on the track since VIR in February.
