After watching the above clip about 20 times I have started to think about safety gear to keep my melon in place in the event of an off.

I just purchased a new G-Force Helmet, which has mounts for the G-Force restraint System. As seen below..

http://www.saferacer.com/g-force-srs-1- ... ductid=984

Have any of you seen or used this restraintt?

My concern is.......... You get what you pay for, and when it comes to this kind of technology, money wouldn't be my first limiting factor....

thanks
jake

I am not going to tell you not to get it. Maybe it is better than nothing at all. But the device is not SFI or FIA rated so it would not meet the criteria for any sanctioning body that requires a head and neck restraint system.

I purchased a HANS Sport 20 model from Apex Performance. With the NASA 10% discount, it cost me about $630.

If you are concerned about the safety, skip one event and take that money in combination with the g-force cost and get yourself an approved head and neck restraint system.

This was my first weekend with the HANS. After figuring out the best way to get it on, I never noticed I had it on.

In that same price range you can get a Isaac Link model, and I'd trust my life to the Isaac before the G-Force.

If you watch around, you can often get the higher end Isaac for a similar price (used).

Here's the Isaac website, with crash sled numbers for the G-Force and others.

The problem with the Isaac is that it probably won't be SFI approved from what I understand. Something about a single release point to detach the device post accident. Assuming that sanctioned racing is your ultimate goal.

I don't have any first hand knowledge with any H&N. I'm just retelling chatter I've seen on the interweb.

Another option is the new Hans Sport series. It's consideribly cheaper than the other two models but a little heavier. But you drive a Mustang, so adding a little weight won't really affect you much.

Just my $.02
