When do I get the car teched?
The THSCC/Triangle Z people usually schedule a couple of tech days prior to the first event. I am sure they will pipe in with the details.

I'm not able to run the time trail, because of the rookie status so do i need to update my harnesses?
Since you are putting everything together, might as well put fresh harnesses in. Do it for both the driver and instructor.

I have a set of street tires and hoosiers.... any advice on what I should run during this learning process?
Street tires, street tires and street tires. Trust your instructors to let you know when you are being held back by the tires. If you want to increase your chances of hitting a solid object, give into your testosterone and run the Hoosiers

Do I need to install a passengers seat in my car for the instructor, or does he/she drive their own rig?
Yes. Make sure it is equal in every way to the seat you have your butt planted in. Same with the harnesses. Trust me on this, if your instructors look at your car and see you have provided equal safety for them as yourself, you gain immediate respect.

There is nothing wrong with American lead sleds, they surprise a lot of people. Mine is only 15 years old though and back together.
