For the TimeTrial program, are there any requirements for racing seat certifications?

I looked through the tt_rules on the website, and didn't see anything. I just want to be certain.

Jason:

We do not have any specific requrement for seats because that is covered
in the requrements for driver restrain systems. If you can meet the
harness installation spec and helmet height spec with a stock seat , we
are not going to force you to get a racing seat. But, there is always
seems to be a but, more often than not a seat will be required in order to route the anti sub strap or seat you suffuciantly low to clear the top of the rollbar.

Cheers
Mark V

Thanks Mark, I've been looking at aftermarket seats and was just basically wondering if I needed to look for the FIA tag or not. I think I will try to get seats that have it.

Jason;

Given a choice, FIA seats are better, from a personal protection standpointt
compaired to SFI rated seats.

BUT that is not to say you are not safe with an SFI rated seat.

The main difference is SFI seat requires a seat back brace (about $80 from
IOPORT Racing) and FIA rated seats must NOT be mounted with
a seat back brace.

Considering we are all basically using stock production
cars with lots of crush zones we are not depending on the seat, as much,
to absorb impact, as someone in a LMP600/900 or Super Touring Car would be.

An SFI seat will offer you more protection and substantial more track driving conform than a stock seat.
