Who all is heading up there? I'll be in the pits with Conover Racing and Karl will be with Team MER. It should be a hoot!

I'll be there in the CMS pits with you Wes. It will be good to put a face with the name.

I'll be there crewing with Team MER for three Spec MX-5 cars, running in DP IIRC. I'll probably be hitting you two and your team drivers up for some questions - I'm taking a crack at the freelance writing thing, hoping to cover the event for Sportscar magazine.

When your race is done. You boys hurry up and get out of North Paddock so we can get in

Good luck! I might catch the end of it if I can get up there on time for once.

Wes,

Nice photos. Wish I could have hung around to take some night shots, but unfortunately our team (sm 6) went home early after blowing the engine in the car. I think we had a good shot at winning after qualifying third in class the day before, but it was not to be. Hopefully, next year will be better.

Anyways, I should have some photos up in a couple of days.

How did you guys end up doing?

Jeff

RJ took most of the pics; I only handled the camera for the last pit stop -- that's Phil of Phil's Tire Service that just got out of the car and Greg Amy waiting for the refueling to finish before getting in and putting the hammer down.

Pablo took 1st in class with a five lap lead and finished 17th overall. Frickin Amy's best lap in the day was a 2:26.3 and he put down a 27.5 at night. In the cold. Without 5th gear. Amazing stuff to watch.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

One last thing. I was grilling up fajitas and enjoying Yuengling and racing stories after the race, and a group of three workers stumbled into our pits. And by stumbled, I mean had a stack of empties under their full beer.

One guy asked who had the Tarheel stickers on his trailer, and John Davidson introduced himself to us. It turns out that he was the president of THSCC back in the late 70s and just about crapped himself laughing when he found out that John Messenheimer used to own my car. He excused himself to go back to his office and he retrieved his now 30 year old President badge and posed for this picture. Good times indeed.

You mean to tell me there are members of THSCC who don't know "The Bobcat"?

For shame... or maybe those of us who do know him should be ashamed, I'm not sure.

Not all of us were born into the club or are as old as Art.

John used to autox a white Chevy Monza (well, as much as one could autox a Chevy Monza), and I want to say it had a CB 102" whip on the back bumper. He helped organzie the NC State Sports Car Club back then also...thinking this was 1977 or so. The year I started at NC State.

Wes, was he a corner worker at VIR last weekend?

Before he Auto-Xed the Monza John ran a Vega wagon. :lol4:
That is until he set the interior on fire.

You don't have to be that old to remember John and his president's badge. Next time you see him, thank him for talking about rallye and autocross with his old neighbor, who turned out to be a CP&L manager looking for a club to put on a rallye for a thing called the EV Challenge.

As for Wes --- :furious: :moon: :furious: :moon: :furious:
