If the weather holds up, the Main Track will have a brand new coat of asphalt in time for Friday at the Track on 10/12.

Maybe time to see about going up there

Should make it pretty interesting for this weekend. I am planning on heading up there this coming weekend too.

Love the comments about the paving.

You havent seen the last of the concrete patches, they will show themselves again.

Given the apparent "prep", it's only a matter of time. After all, it wouldn't be Summit Point without twelve different kinds of pavement and concrete in turn 5.

Well, regardless of how they did it, it sure was nice and smooth this weekend. Many of the race groups saw thier lap times go down by about 2 seconds.

Some of the curbing is gone...most noticeably T3.

The new pavement was easy on the tires as well. While Rockingham the week before took about 1/3 of the life out of my tires, Summit apperntly took zero off. It did smooth out all of the graining from Rockingham though, so maybe it took just a little...

Who knows how long it will be like it is now, but it is the best surface I have driven on there since '99.

It was some and they widened the track by paving over some of the curbing. The main problem was the dust, dirt and gravel. They filled in along the new pavement with dirt. If a car went off, there was a huge dust cloud.

When I get a chance I will post the video from the Thunder race on Sunday. It was a rolling start and turn three turned into a huge dust and smoke cloud. The race was red flagged at that point and we did restart. The amazing thing, no one ended up with any damage.

I did end up getting tagged hard in the rear on the next to last lap. An emergency vehicle crossed the track directly in front of four of us. The trouble is the fourth car was trying to get caught back up to us and did not see we had to check up.

The damage is not too bad on the Camaro. The rear bumper was shoved down. Luckly he hit me square. The Mustang's front end was pretty much tore off. I did finish the race and did not lose any positions.

An emergency vehicle crossed in front of you guys? Hmm, what were they thinking? Did you have some comments for NASA about it? Doesn't sound like it was a terribly safe move for them to make....unless they were covered with a yellow flag. Even then....

The Sunday race was kind of a mess. Most of the back portion of the track was covered in some sort of yellow flag for most of the race . Yes, there we did have a yellow. I saw the EV cutting behind the worker station at 8/9. The three of us in a pack all saw it coming across and slowed way, way down. The trouble is my friend in the CMC2 Mustang was trying to catch up to us under the yellows.

Luckily the CMC Mustang in front of me and I had our cameras running. So the race director had a serious talk with the EV people.

Good reaction to avoid that car in 3...

I thought for a second there I was watching a Dukes of Hazzard re-run. :D It even has the right sound effects.
