Matt you mean there was a group that was actually thinking that dual tires on one rim was the way to go? Perhaps with spinners.......

I remember an article in Popular Mechanics years ago touting how great a dual tire setup was for fuel mileage and rain safety. Closest thing that made it was Goodyear Aquatreads, I think.

I had an awesome time this weekend, despite a multitude of behind-the-scenes issues, I think all was pretty transparent to most everyone there. The accident was unfortunate, but everyone involved is unscathed and already working to learn from it. After all the dust settles, we'll hopefully will be able to present some real data from it, and I think it will really open a lot of people's eyes.

For whatever reason, the track felt really good to me this weekend. Even though T5 and T7 were very slick (maybe it was the tires?). Got into a good rhythm on track, and had lots of confidence in the car (which is new to me!)

I think everyone adapted well to Sunday's schedule change (even if some on the staff didn't LOL).

I've heard several people say they had grip issues in T5, but I didn't. I turn early at T5 and don't try to make it back track right for T6. Maybe that's why?

I suppose my turn in for 5 might be considered late, but no matter what I did there, I had to maintenance throttle the whole way round, and if I was pushing I could EASILY use the right pedal for some on-throttle oversteer (in 3rd gear). Maybe that's because my car has a little more ummph since my "rebuild" from August... but it's usually off-throttle where I get the most oversteer.

I've got some other things I want to try for T5 next time I go.

Vincent do you mean turn 6 and not try to make it back right for 7 (leading back out onto the banking)? If so then yes, that's the line I teach. My goal for 6 (the VERY fast right hander) is to exit on pavement. Don't care where.

I may have my numbers confused Ron. Does the fish hook have two numbers? If so, then yes I mean T6. I've been calling the fish hook T4 and the fast right hander T5.

Yeah - Vincent was having me drive that line (although I was still going a little right before the turn-in at 7 when I didn't need to).

I'll have to edit some video from my run group showing even me just eating up distance on other drivers there.

For the last session on Sunday, I decided to try the "two turn" line into 5. I broke early for four, turned in and headed towards the cone marking the turn in for 5. A hard stab of the brake and quick turn on then on the throttle for the exit of 5.

The upside, I covered a lot less distance through that series of turns. I carried more speed into turn turn-in.

The downside, carrying more speed into 5 and miss your braking, you have little if any margin of error before you are into the dirt.

Interesting. I have always approached 6-7 thinking that 7 was the turn that lead to the longest straight on the whole track. Seems like getting all the exit speed out of that one as possible would be a good thing and being all the way track left at the exit of 6/entrance to 7 is not going to set that up very well. No?

I've found that you can enter turn 7 from center to left of center on the short straight before 7 with little detrimental affect on your speed through 7. You may indeed give up a little but in my experience the net gain is positive. In other words what I gain on people through 6 more than offsets anything I loose in 7.

Besides, the track out in 7 is almost infinite. You have the width of the apron and the whole banking to work with. Let the card slide as far right as it wants. You'll still never get to the top of the banking. What I find is the car will slide to the base of the banking and be stopped by that transition.

Its just amazing how much speed you can carry through 6!

All I can say about speed through turn 6 is if you can not see
the gaters on the INSIDE of turn 7- you are on the slow line!
