An important note. As I posted in the other topic, FIA belts are good for longer than the SFI belts. I just bought a set of FIA belts and the expiry date is 2008. Here is the memo from FastTrack:

FROM: National Staff

SUBJECT: Seat Belt Certification Life
The Competition Board, along with the
National Office, would like to clarify the
language of GCR section 20.8. In their
August meeting, the Board of Directors
approved a rule change that requires all
seat belts certified to SFI specification 16.1
be replaced by December 31st of the 2nd
year after the date of manufacturer. Belts
certified to FIA specification #8853/1985,
8853/98 or D-###.T/98 may be used until
December 31st of the year marked on the
label.
SFI certified belts are labeled with the
date of manufacture, while FIA belts are
labeled with the date of expiration. In
either case, the belts may be used until
December 31st of their respective certification.
(Not all manufacturers are dating
every belt in a set. They may be dating one
of a pair of shoulder or lap belts or may
only be dating one belt in an entire set.
I'm not 100% sure how this affects the TT. Since there is no real harness rule for school cars, then the equal restraints thing is still in effect. That being said, I believe only Time Trial cars will be required to have belts that conform to the new rule, and only for the driver.
As with all school related safety items, your instructor must also feel safe. In my opinion, as long as the passenger belt looks reasonably safe (and I think we all know what that is) upon inspection, and the driver's passes the TT rule, then I think that is sufficient. If the car is not running TT then I think that the belts need only pass visual tech. I MAY BE WRONG. MARK OR SOMEONE SHOULD CLARIFY THIS.
