FYI, the NCRSCCA HPDE event at Rockingham has only 24 students signed up. The event is only two weeks away.

You are sure to get lots of open track with that few entries. You can register on-line here.

Edit. I see there is a Miata registered in ESP.

The entry list for next weekend's SCCA HPDE at Rockingham is filling up fast. 32 people so far!

Just checked out the Chin motorsports site for VIR - $530 + $75 instructor fee

Somebody tell me it's worth it and I'll bite the bullet. Watching some video I took from NASA @ VIR made me think it would be worth the extra cash if it guaranteed smaller run groups.

I haven't run a Chin event yet, but I understand it is worth it. Smaller run groups + open-track-esque seat time. They are on the top of my list of other clubs to run with, just not in the cards this year.

worth it?? i don't know. tons of track time with no trains ever? yes. July 4th event was limited to 80 drivers including instructers in three seperate run groups. four run sessions daily plus 1.5 hours open track in the late afternoon.

register early as the novice group fills quickly. if my car is ready i plan on going to the November event. if not i might have to wait for the December event.

Yes if you can afford it. No if you can't. They fill up fast for every event they run. So they must be doing something right. Like Steve said the Novice group fills fast. Since it is so limited with instructors there aren't that many slots. If you see a train at all, it'll be the one you pass and don't see again that session. Their format after Novice group is pretty open with liberal passing rules. You should get a good instructor as it's pretty much the same group that runs with most clubs.

You're paying for tons of seat time, plain and simple. Since you ran a NASA DE. Do the math. What did it cost you for entry fees? How much track time did you get? That is where you define for yourself the value. I usually get 6 hours and log 300 miles of seat time in a weekend with Chin. That's about 2 weekends with NASA. Nothing against NASA. Different strokes. If I run TT next year I'll go back to running with NASA just for the TT program.

Just to even out the discussion. If you want the event that has the best cost/payback with all things considered. Then you have to run THSCC events. Then followed by PCA. Use Chin for tons of seat time with little structure.

Heck that is the best event to bring it out for. Sign up in intermediate and have a blast! I don't think I'll make it to the December event without going into surgery there bud so it has to be November.

Kendt you won't be the only Tarheel out there for November if you sign up. I'm almost guaranteed to be there. Will know by Sep 18th which is right about when registration opens.
