Yes, it is ... we hire an overnight gate guard who locks the gates around 10:00

Who the heck numbered the turns on that map?? There are only 7, yes 7 turns at the track: Nascar 1 and 2, turn 3 which is the turn into the infield, 4/5 the fish hook, 6 the fast right hander and 7 the turn back out onto the oval. I've never before seen a map with what was it, 9 turns??

Sorry Ron, that was me... This was something I did to clarify with Amanda how they called the turns or worker stations out. It was the best example I had at the time.

Are the garages all reserved? I didn't add it when I registered and wondered how to get one now.

BTW... so far, this is looking like the absolute lowest attended TZC/THSCC event ever. We currently only have 57 cars signed up... INCLUDING instructors!!

So... traffic will be light, no doubt about it

Do you want help trying to recruit more people?

Always! :)

Easiest and quickest address to give anyone is the MSR link:

BUMP.
Still LOTS of slots open for this, our LAST event of the year.
Great chance for those of you who haven't tried HPDE to learn with plenty of open track.

Hey----just think of Rockingham as a High-Speed autocross 8)

You don't need a race car or 'R' comps. Standard seat belts are OK. You'll have a blast! http://www.motorsportreg.com

Actually Ron to be consistent with the original layout and corner designations there are only 6 turns as the 'Fish Hook' was considered one turn which it is of course... if you have to have it broken up try using 4A and 4B which are more appropriate IMO...

OCTJMO, ICBW... then again I did have a lil sump'n to do with the original layout... except'n naming the 'Fish Hook'... that was thought up by an ol IMSA rac'n buddy of mine from St. Pete who for some obscure reason happened to be there just visiting at the first event or perhaps while we were still installing the guard rail, etc.... we were up in the old grandstands and while gazing out over the infield he turns to me and says... 'Ya know... that turn down at the other end looks like a fish hook...' 'Dang sure does... reckon that's it then...' an that's the name of that tune...

Steve 'who thinks numbering turns with station numbers SUX' Coleman

PS: If you think this latest numbering abortion is screwy you should have been at the July 1 Carolinas PCA event at Lowes (nee Charlotte Motor Speedway)... now that was a mess... I've never seen a track where the first turn after the start / finish line wasn't denoted turn ONE... notwithstanding tracks who have actually moved their starting locations due to various reasons; i.e. Mid-Ohio... even so they still use the original S / F as the 'official' timing and scoring and finish with T1 following that... back to Lowes in July, they had NASCAR One as the official T1 (which you don't actually run on) and so forth until you got to the REAL T1 and by that time it was T5 and so on til they had like 12 turns... sheeeshhhh... Hey folks, at Lowes, TI is going into the infield just past START / FINISH, T2 being the banked left hander that follows, with T3 having A & B sections (although I'm pretty sure that by this point the corner stations don't jive (no one seemingly ever having a problem with that)... T4 is the right hand sweeper up to the tight right over the hill T5 leading into the T6 carousel that spits you out onto the NASCAR Oval... where we ALWAYS used the simple, easy to understand, without ever any confusion, designations of the oval portions as NASCAR Two, NASCAR Three, and NASCAR Four... nice and simple soes anybody can easily understand it without even thinking too hard... anything else is nutz...

Steve I'm just now catching up. I agree that the numbering system the PCA used at Lowes was screwy. I have always heard turn 3 called 3A, 3B (kind of like what you said for the Fishook) but turn 5 the one going back out to the oval (a really long turn 5!).

Ryan...

Heard you had a bunch of Miata stuff... maybe we could work something out and you could share my car, since it looks like Glenn's wife isn't gonna go for it just yet...

That is of course if you're willing to be seen in a ratty arse ol box stock rumpled fender Miata... ;)

Seriously... I've let one buddy use it and have offered it to a couple other folks who didn't have the funds or time, or was ready to tackle it just yet... so unless something unforeseen were to come up it'd probably work... what group you in...

You sure as hey wouldn't be risking much... that's a fact...

Your call...

Well that's two of us on the same page...

Quote:

Actually that's T6 as the Tunnel Sweeper is T5 since it comes after The FIshook.... that better, and if you think the turn onto the oval needs two designations use T7A & T7B... of course few people do two 'true' apexes... 'virtual' apexes perhaps for those who use the 'dive bomb', turn it on a dime and accelerate like hell method... which of course takes a car with some git up...

Steve 'who's dead set on how The Rock and Lowes (nee Charlotte MS) turns are numbered, so if'n yer talking to me 'bout turns there 'bouts get used to it...' Coleman
