Well I just got back from my weekend at RR with NASA-SE. The best word I can use to describe the new surface is SMOOOOTH. I think that it is faster also. They also have changed the numbers of the turns so now there are 10 turns instead of 9. I think what they did was to drop turn 5a and make that 6 and just renumbered from there. So the next time you run there you should enjoy the new surface. One thing that is missing is old track marks that you might have used to turn in at so you have to fine new marks to go by.

What were you driving?

How was the outer edge wear on the tires?

It should look weird without all the usual markers on the pavement. I'll get to try it in early November.

Roebling has different numbers depending on who runs there. It always has, and it always screws up students and instructors alike, and I am sure it always will.

I always get my students to talk me around the track there, using their turn numbers. Then I recalibrate my numbers to what they know. That kinda sucks when you have 2 experienced students with 2 different sets of turn numbers, but such is life.

In my opinion, there are 8 turns.

I drive a '03 Mustang/Cobra running on Avon Tech-R tires.

How was the outer edge wear on the tires?

My Tires wore very well. I had heard that the new surface was eating front left tires before I went. I heard no one at this event say much about tire wear one way or another.

The smoothest of the track makes for better stick.

Kim,

Well one of my new friends said that he was there with an old friend named Kim in a Cobra. I beleive Jake was his instructor? Wouldn't happen to know Jeff England would you?

Graham
