Three days of fun in the sun on the track. Wow! You couldn't have asked for better weather. Friday lapping days rock! There were no major incidents and all groups were well behaved.

Sunday's TT was a little exta interesting for me due to a huge turtle in the middle of the track between turns 4 & 5. The shell on the thing had to be at least 12" long and 6" - 7" tall. It made me think of a Bedrock hardhat. I slowed down to change my line and insure I avoided hitting it and not spinning out in the process. I think significant damage may have occurred with contact. None of the corner workers at 4 or 5 had seen it, so I went through 5a and 5b honking on the horn pointing behind me. Next time around there was a "debris on track" flag displayed at 4, but the turtle was well off the track by then (flagging was so-so this weekend).

I just got in from Savannah. Gotta say that taking the extra day for the return trip was well worth it. Where are those TT results? I didn't get to see Sunday's time because I had to change brake pads.

Indeed the 3 days at RR were fantastic. High 80s but a constant breeze and some cloud cover made it quite nice. Everyone was very well behaved so very few incidents and I think only one stoppage of a run group due to a mechanical problem (darned BMWs:). Mark and all the crew did the usual outstanding job making the event run as smoothly as always.

Just a great weekend at the track!

Of course, I'll reiterate... or is re-riterrate?... how excellent the weekend was. EVEN considering my spectacular agricultural excursion, I had a great time.

Special thanks goes out to all the hard work the Alfa Club guys did in preparation for the event and their work at check-in both nights... Bert Neilly, Ron Weddle, and Steve Margolis. Couldn't have pulled off this three-day thing without them!

Yeah... flagging left some things to be desired, but really, other than a few mis-placed drivers (which I think we took care of rather promptly) there weren't too many issues.

As always, thanks to Brad Mackey, Mark Cooper, and Kevin Butler for helping Brian Hobson with grid duties.... its nice when Mark and I get to drive some (even if we do sometimes embarrass ourselves doing it ;) )

And good news... paving is moving ahead as planned. Roebling Road is of course accepting any and all donations to help pay for the cause (you'll probably get some kind of recognition at the track too).

We may even be invited to be some of the first people on track after its all set up (early September).

Stacy,

You're the only guy I've ever seen try to turn a track event into a hillclimb. I'm really glad that it resulted in being just a minor issue.

LOL ... nah, I think Matt Nicholson tried it in a different spot a couple years ago, didn't work out too well for him either. I think I had a better 'angle' though :D

This was one of the cleanest event run to date. Several people
who had not attended our events before, commented on
our group is the best they ever ran with. Specifically on track
coperation among drivers as well as overall organization. Great
job by students and instructors alike. The radio was so quite at
times we had to check to see if it was still working.

The three day format is the way to go. We did a show of hands,
the group in attendance was 100% in favor of keeping the mid
June weekend date. 80+ students and 38 instructors as well as 64
paying entries for the lapping day.

True to Gram Jagger's prediction Deer was spotted on the property
but not near enough to trigger a flag condition. However, we did have turtle wanting to run in the Time Trial Sunday, a pretty big one too!

Registration for Rockingham should be open very soon. Just confirmed
the event Hotel, Stacy should have it open by end of the week. Chris
Baker has the Scoring files for publication on MyLaps and the web site.
They should be up by mid week.

See Ya On Track!

MV

Like all I had a great time. It was the best classroom learning I have ever had. Thanks Chuck. Thanks Ron.

Also thanks to Ashraf for the great in car instruction.

Thanks to all of You who made the event happen and run so well.

I really think the Friday addition made this event, and for our First true lapping day it went GREAT.

Yeah, definitely the way to go, having the Friday deal.

That is... until Howard convinced me to do "One more session", whereby I promptly drove it off at speed in turn 9

Gives plenty of feedback on the condition of that big field on track left 8)

Brad, did you mention that to me. I seem to recall hearing about a runoff there and it being such a good job of keeping it under control that the corner workers said a video would be nice to show how it's done. Was that you? Sorry about my po ol memory (CRS & 'ol Timer's setting in again). ;)

In any case sounds like you must have done a good job, and everybody needs some practice at that, 'cause it's gonna happen eventually and some places are better than others to try it out. RR being better than most overall.

being so close to the show, I can say Brad did a great job of driving off in 9. Once he realized he wasn't going to make it, it just straightened the wheel and drove straight off.

Worried me a bit since we were going the same speed and turned in at the same point. I thought I might follow, but it was just your tires giving up the ghost.

What's up with TT results? Sunday's are what I'm most interested in.

Thanks,
