so based on the forecast :( for sat which tires would you guys advise me to use

Azenis rt-215s
or Kumho exta supra 712s

both are about the same tread depth, Kumho sidewalls are super soft but that might not matter in the wet.

other than that, I cant wait! :D

Run the 712s for sure. 215s are the worst rain tire evar.

Saturday = Blizzaks
Sunday = Azenis x15

I hope you all have better weather than what is predicted.

The Azenis is NOT the worst rain tire ever. They actually grip a wet surface extremely well. It is THE rain tire for ST* autocrossing (ask Tom Hoppe!). What it does poorly is remove standing water. The 615 is supposed to do tht better than the 215.

This is surprisingly true. There's no doubt that the 215's kept you on your toes in heavy rain.

451's very good in the wet. couldn't get enough open track to really push them but they were grippy when i needed them.

I have tried almost everything Falken has/had to offer:

FK451's, Azenis RT215, RT615 and even the Ziex 512 (on my wagon). I'm not sure about the other comments on here, but on my STS Celica, there was nothing better in the wet than full tread RT215's. Standing water or mist, they were in my opinion the best, because they remained soft even in cold wet conditions. - AB

Well that was fun. I now wish i hadn't replaced my Kumho 712's a few weeks ago. They would have done MUCH better on Saturday than with the Ventus RS-2's i have on there now...even if it was just one session for me... :oops:

Guess i'll just be praying for dry weather for next time. :wink:

hate to dredge this one back up but i ran @ Roebling this weekend and the sky dumped an inch and a half of rain on saturday. i wasn't setting blistering lap times but the falken 451's were very grippy. only really hydroplaned once in turn 8 in a large puddle.

sunday was dry and the falkens were again good. the wear seems to be good also.

BTW, ran the HPDE with first coast chapter bmwcca. good instruction and a well run school. seem to be a nice bunch.

it was very enlightening to see how much traction actually existed in the pouring rain. my first time @ RRR also, so i had a lot going on.

Having driven on both the ESTAS and the new Azina on track with
the Corvette. I have to say the new Azina is by far the better choice.
The North Course is busy you will appriciate the better turn in reponse.
