Any suggestions on where to get a fire extinguisher and mounting bracket? Autosport Gallery has them for $79 and RacerWholesale for $35 (plus shipping and time). I was wondering if there are lower cost options available.

Suggestions on mounting to the rollbar would be appreciated.

Just make sure you get one BIG enough to me the TT rules. Ask Vincent how that works out

They should really change the name to Home Depot Racing Supply....

Yep, the rules are 2lbs minimum. I bought a bling-model to discover it was a 1lb.

When I got mine a year ago all the Home Depot ones had plastic mounting brackets. I guess the metal mounting brackets were somewhere else in the store.

I got mine at SimplexGrinnell off of Poole road.

2.5lbs ABC with a metal bracket. $30.50 with tax.

Jim,

I don't think you'll find what you need for less than $30. As far as where to mount --- it needs to be out of the way when you're driving and still easy to reach when you're strapped in. I mounted mine on the diagonal roll bar tube just behind the passenger seat, about stomach high. Since I have a low console it's easy to reach back there and grab it. Another option is the right side of the transmission tunnel, but then it's next to your instructor's legs. Go ahead and get the extinguisher, strap yourself in the car and find out where you can reach, unclip and retrieve it.

I'll give you a dollar if you will mount it on the windshield pillar and send me a picture of the look on Vitacco's face when you go to tech inspection.

That is the quandry, when I am strapped in, there is not much I can reach except the steering wheel. Can the bottle be clamped to the diagonal of the roll bar?

I was trying to figure out how to attach it to the a-pillar and totally overlooked it.

I'm not sure if this would work on the Camaro. But with my ever popular harness bar I also got a fire extinguisher mounting bracket. The bracket connects to the front of the seat base on the passenger side. Does not interfere with the passenger's legs and allows the seat to move forward/backward.

You most certainly couldn't reach it while strapped in. Quite frankly if you were sitting in a racing seat it would be a stretch to reach around and grab it off anywhere on the roll bar. I can barely power on the camcorder on its mount once I'm strapped in.

Maybe if you used a proper restraint system you would not have that problem

I found 2 lb dry & foam ABC rated extinguishers at ACE hardware. ACE had the same metal bracket RacerWhole sells-the metal bracket sold seperatly - t total cost was about the same-less than $40?
