Okay, we have a noob question here and it probably is not at all important for the HPDE, but where would I find car classing information?

I just want to be able to fill out the registration application. Geez, I feel like I have regressed 5 years :)

Until you get a bar in the car and a few events under your belt, all you need to know is GREEN group 8)

Jim,

Which track event are you signing up for? Just curious.

Jim,

Class only matters if you're doing the TT. If you're not doing the TT, then just put your numbers on the car...

I'll laugh at you if you put class decals. :)

Believe it or not, I can figure all that out. My question still stands as to how the car classes. The SCCA classing document provided very little insight.

Plus, it makes a big difference when it comes to planning for 2006. Believe it or not, some of us have started to plan for 2006 already.

Then I guess I don't understand your question. You want to know what TT class your car is in?

If it's really stock, I agree F-stock, but I don't think TT runs Stock classes, so you'd be in the apropriate SP class... ESP I would think.

Was that more helpful?

Jim,

In autocross, the car would be classed as F-stock, unless you've got some mods to throw it out. The 1LE was not bumped into a different class for any reason. Classing for the TT should be the same.

Is that what you were wondering? If the 1LE designation made a difference?

Tarheel Sports Car Club Time Trial Series: Classing Information

Information about Classing
Initially, classes will be those catagories defined by SCCA Club Racing and SOLO (non-open wheel). Additional classes may be added as required. Marque Club classes will be determined by demand, or mapped to the appropriate SCCA class. However, one cannot mix and match between categories (Racing & SOLO) to come up with a "best of both" spec.
Mark Vitacco - THSCC TT Chairman : (919)790-7159; mark@timetrials.net
Please try and call before 9:00 PM.

It will be every competor's responsibility to insure that their car is classed properly and in full compliance with respective class rules. Information on ordering rule books from the SCCA can be found here.

Thus, any SCCA Solo or Club Racing class maybe used as long as you use allowances from only one. The TTR (previously Solo I) rules outline the safety requirements for Solo class vehicles participating in class 3 and 4 events. THSCC runs Class 3, FYI.

More information is available at
http://www.thscc.com/timetrial/nonhtml/ ... es_V20.pdf

These might need to be updated to reflect the recent additions of Street Touring and Street Modified.

All this information is on the THSCC site track area. Read that before looking at the SCCA junk. If you know your Solo II class, you know your TT class. If not, just run it in SPO.

Yup, read all the information before I posted the question :o The TT program does not support ESP nor the stock classes of AX. I understand the stock classes, not sure why there is no ESP. Based upon this, maybe the car bumps to BSP?

I dug through the SCCA Club classing and could not find a listing for the Camaro in any of the other classes, including SSA, SSB and SSC. Plenty of listings for 4th gen Camaros and some early 3rd Gens (IROCs).

Since the car is not listed in any of the Solo 1 SS classes (granted I may have missed it)...by default it moves to SSX according to the THSCC TT rules?

The car was purposely built to run in Showroom Stock any ways. So I would like to keep it there. No reason to modify it.

I think what you have missed is:
Quote:
Stock Category: SSX, SSGT, SSA, SSB, SSC T1, and T2 Any vehicle that is 1973 (or newer should be here, I think)
model year and is eligible for a SOLOII National class may run in these categories.

Any car that has ever been classed for Showroom Stock or Touring will be classed in
the latest SS specifications or Touring that it appeared. Any vehicle that has never
been classed in SS or Touring, will run in SSX. Examples of SSX cars in the SCCA
National Solo Rules include, but are not limited to: 1991 Dodge Stealth Turbo, 1990
300ZX Turbo, 944 Turbo S, 88-91 Corvettes, 74-91 911’s, and BMW M3

Solo II Stock is supported fully by the underlined clause above. I am pretty sure (not 100%) that the 1LE like yours ran (rather successfully) in SSGT.

I have seen ESP cars in THSCC TT. There may just not be an ESP car at the event, IN the TT.

Stock classes for SCCA Solo1, now called Time Trial, used Showroom
Stock GCR classing for the vehicle. Which makes it interesting because
most of the relevent GCR's are ancient history or the cars were never
classified in SS. SSX is the "catchall" stock class.

I believe Camaro/FIrebirds & Mustang's were SSGT
This was called the Firehawk series back then

If you can't find any SS dlcumentation please use SSX.
In practice we use SSX most to make up multi car fields for the few
stock cars running-most people do something put get out in Street
Prepaired which is well documented.

When you register and you indicate Time Trial "Y" a pull down list
of classes is supposed to come visiable.

For the HPDE run groups are based on the number of previous
HPDE type events. For Rockingham in a Camaro I would
recomend Jim put down Yellow based on his considerable AX
experience and the nature of the venue.
