This happened Saturday at Road Atlanta during the ProIT race.

I was in 4th, trying to stay close to 3rd to set up a pass,
in the closing stages of the race. I was hit by an IT7 in
the left rear as I passed him on the outside of turn 5,
spun to a stop, then was hit head-on by an ITS 240z
who simply didn't have time to miss me. He was going
probably 50 mph at the time of impact, and I was sitting still.
The hit knocked my car about 20 feet back from the
edge of the track, across the gravel pit to the access road.

I am completely fine physically. I wear the Isaac head
and neck restraint, and I felt it work! If I am able to make
it to the Roebling event, I will have the Isaac with me,
and anyone with a big enough head to use my helmet can
try it out. They also have a rental setup that anyone can
use for a weekend for something like $65, which goes
toward the purchase of your Isaac when you decide you like it!

Isaac LLC

Gregg Baker, "Main guy in charge" at Isaac, was nice enough
to host this picture of the aftermath. He estimates the impact
at somewhere between 5-15 G's. (Funny, that is where I
estimate the cost!)

Bottom line: Get a neck restraint, and wear it any time you
are on track! We may not go "that fast", but we can still have
bad enough wrecks to cause some serious damage to ourselves.

How do I make the picture smaller?

Make the pic smaller the cheap way: go to MS Photo Editor, resize it accordingly, and host it for free at http://imageshack.us as a clickable thumbnail.

Wow Bowie. Glad to hear you are ok and that the Issac did it's job. I purchased one during the off-season, and it will be set up before I hit the track July 9/10. (I haven't been on track yet this year.) I've heard nothing but good things about the Issac and it's performance when people have had to use it. I know I'll feel safer this season wearing it.

That's some damage you've got there. Good luck putting the car back together.

Bowie,

Glad you're ok and hope you stay that way. After the head on I had last year, my symptoms worsened with time. But that was with no head restraint.

Would the ISAAC be able to install/work properly in a Miata with 6 pt harnesses mounted to the crossbar of a Hard Dog roll bar and stock seats?

Yes, it would (and does) work perfectly in that situation. I used my Isaac in my street miata before I sold it.

The Isaac works in any situation where harnesses are worn. (unless the harnesses are routed badly wrong)

I know it sounds like I am preaching about it, but half of all racing deaths are from BSFs (basilar scull fractures), and anything we can do is good!
