Not saying that but where the pic is cut off on the left, there are tires. Have you been to Shenandoah? I have, and I will be driving it in June, for every one to pic an incident where the drive was clearly over driving and the pull a random pic of a bunch of walls, and then people who have never driven or seen the track to deem it unsafe seems silly, but it looks less dangerous to me than Watkins Glen does or mid Ohio and people love to run those tracks they have walls along just about the whole track with tires in high impact places also how old is that picutre, it does not look like it was taken the same times as the video, and in the video's I have seen there are tires along most of the walls, maybe this is just a slow seciton and they don't have them, except on the left side cause I know there were there when I was there last june. Me I am glad there is anther track on the east coast to drive, and if you deem that it is unsafe do you, then fine don't run it, just mean more time for people who do drive. The few people who have driving both VIR and Shenandoah rate Shenandoah right up their with vir and a few like it better than vir, so I am looking forward to driving it. At all tracks there are area's where the run off room is not as much as I would like, say like turn 4,5,6 at VIR that has eaten its fair share of cars, I have yet to drive vir 4,5,6 at 10/10th/s or even 9/10ths because of this, same thing at cmp, summit., vir north. I know there are area's that if I screw up the car will get bent and I will be walking home. Of all the tracks I go to VIR has the most run off room, but not everyone is that lucky, Bill Scott bought as much land as he could and built his track, from what I understand some more land has come free and he has bought that and plans on increasing the run off room in several areas. When I come back from Shenandoah in June I will let you know how it feels, and I will make my final decision on weather or not this track is worth the 5 hour trip and is safe, but at least I will have been there when I make this decision.
Look, I agree with you that the only way to make the decision is to go. Based on the video, the track seems very safe. There are many tracks where that would have been a lot worse. However, uncovered concrete walls in a series of corners where there is very little run-off throws up a red flag in my book. Why? Because if you look in that picture it is wet and the wet grass will not allow for any reduction of speed. None. Zero. You go off anywhere in that picture, unless you can use the force to telepathically move your car, you are probably going to hit a wall. That does not mean the track is unsafe, it just means you need to be aware of it. Just like you are today in 4,5 and 6 at VIR. There is nothing wrong with intentionally dialing it back in a section because you fear the consequences of a mistake.
