For the first time ever, they were busted by the Paddock Marshall and told they aren't allowed to ride bikes in the paddock. Now maybe that's some rule posted somewhere but it's never been enforced before on a DE weekend. I'll sign 50 waivers promising I won't sue the track if they get hurt or hit by a car. Please, VIR?

Bicycles or motorized bikes? Wonder if I need a permit for my kid-sized Razor scooter (disclaimer: it's the only pit vehicle which fits into the trunk of an S2000 for autox days).

No, this most certainly was an issue with children only. Kids are apparently not allowed to ride bikes in the paddock. He did tell them they could walk their bikes up to the skidpad to ride, and anywhere in the grass was OK.

From the VIR webpage "policies":

Bicycles – Children under 16 are prohibited from riding bikes, roller blades, skates, skateboards and scooters in the paddock during hot track hours. Children may be permitted to ride them at the end of the day if they do so safely. Children may ride them on the Skid Pad if it is not being used during the day.

So, just because it was allowed before doesn't mean it's still allowed.

I blame our litigious society for ruining all the fun.
