I know some of you guys were there and saw on timing and scoring that Magnum PU looked to have some trouble, anybody know what happened?

Saturday they had troubles with camshaft seals. I did not catch up with them Sunday. Bob and I left about the time they were having a lunch break.

The Grumpy Old Men had engine failure after about 2 hours of running on Saturday. They were also black flagged before the start of the race because their numbers which passed tech were suddenly not good enough. So they lost a few laps at the start of the race due to this.

The cam seal problem appeared to be because their crankcase breather was blocked and they were pressurizing the crankcase until it blew out the seal.

We were running well until about 2.5 hours from the end when the Duff car lost all of it's compression and started puking large amounts of oil out of the catch can. It looks like some kind of catastrophic piston failure. I'm flying to Bahrain today and will tear it down when I get back in a week or two.

So I can sucure enough dollars to rebuild the engine again. I need to have it running for the DE in April.

That pressure was a symptom, but not the root cause we think. Even after adding the vent we pucked about 1.5 quarts of oil into the make-shift catch can in about an hour. When we were loading it on the trailer after the race it was hard to start and sounds pretty darn sick.

I'm afraid we are are looking at a rebuild. :(

New engine? I hear those 3.8L Ford V-6s run pretty well..... But a Jaguar V-12 would be really cool with a turbo.

If this car wasn't such a bastard child, we would swap a "proper" B series motor in.

Would the "B" mean Bugatti, Buick, or BMW?

I think "b" is for BASTURD of the honda b series, 2.0 and 2.05 prelude livery.

I have some Prelude bottom end engine parts sitting around here from my last tenant who worked on a bunch of old circle-track Preludes. There is an H22, a couple of B21A1's, and an A20A3, mostly just blocks, but some cranks and pistons too. I don't know their condition, but the price is right.

None of this is English to me but if ya'll want me to pick this stuff up for you VK et al, let me know.

Congrats to Mark and Crew, they fought until the bitter end and crossed the line just a tick out of third overall.

The Silver Bullets ran well until late Sunday. We dropped a cylinder with three hours left. Despite one black flag, running out of gas on track, one stop for body damage repairs, and getting 12 penalty laps we finished 37th of 84.
