Yes, another great event and Olivier like his first track experience and want to do it again.
I also had fun driving the Miata on track.

FABULOUS weekend! The only "negative" (which I will not fault) was the number of cars on track, but it's a great omen for the track program. (more interest means more income for more events!)

I think my fastest lap ever -- in the "torque-less wonder" duff beer car, no less -- speaks volumes to the importance and quality of THSCC events and instructors. [http://youtu.be/rI9TYD-at4k] 20s a lap faster than last year in the bug (which is easily +30hp/+70ft-lbs over duffy)

The bug is a blast to drive, but as Rich mentioned briefly in class, fly-by-wire systems are annoying on track. (to which I muttered, "don't I know it!") Esp. at VIR where I'm trying use the elevation changes the little german brain doesn't know is there... all it knows is I'm going 40mph and turning the wheel 70° -- it's math says "zat ist not possible", so it ignores my foot as I fling it into T7. A 3000lb car doesn't have much momentum left when it goes up a 50ft hill unpowered. (also, it burns up the rear brakes keeping the car "stable")

Duffy... no such technology; one can catch air at the top of 7 with the right amount of chutzpah. Yes, Mr. Hart, that line is faster, but I don't like the way it feels.

I suspect this was taken with the gopro, if so, there is a setting to adjust to in car white. The outside is over exposed, turn this setting on will darken the interior and have the correct exposure outside.

Yeah, we just dropped the ball when setting it up. Just another thing to add to the pre-flight checklist.

The setting is "Spot Metering" and if I remember correctly, it looks like a small Japanese flag (solid dot in a rectangle? close 'nuff) on the GoPro display.

Don't ask me how to turn it on, the menus are impossible to navigate without having the instructions on you.

"Spot meter is primarily for shooting from inside of a car or other dark
space looking out into a brighter outside setting. Spot meter adjusts
the exposure for the absolute center of the scene, for example the road
ahead instead of the interior of the car."
