John is way too involved in the forums, and sometimes he fires off without thinking his remarks through.
As the only Tarheel'r (to the best of my knowledge) to participate in both Nelson Ledges races, I can tell you that nonsense and contact was dealt with swiftly this season. John was at this years version of NL as he was at VIR. I think it can be said that John is very aware of his "business reputation" and makes every effort to make sure the buzz about his series is positive.
That being said part of the buzz is that contact is going to happen and is allowed as part of racing in Chump. Many people feel this is a positive over LeMons and their overly aggressive black flags.
Problem is that there are many teams out there both newbs and very experienced that will intentionally push the envelope on contact. Supposedly there were even teams passing under yellow at night at VIR in areas that were not being monitored by race officials.
I don't know if any of you have noticed, but there are some real tool-bags participating in amateur road racing. LeMons has run most of them out of their ranks which only leaves the tool-bags to either return to NASA, SCCA, Club Racing or ChumpCar.
And as Mike stated there are detractors of both series. Personally I enjoy both, but I don't know that LeMons would look too kindly upon The Silver Bullet team.
