Tech Inspection Question

One of the first-time participants that I know was asking me about approved tech inspection facilities for his tech inspection for this weekend at CMP. I have always just taken the form to my favorite local shop, but there appears to be a list of approved facilities now. If the car is tech inspected at another shop (ASAP Tuning is most convenient for me, since that's where I store the race car), will the form be acceptable for the HPDE?

I already have an annual tech sticker, so this is really for Nic and for future reference.

Generally, the rule is that any shop can do a single event inspection. Just have them complete our form and attach a business card if they have one. You have to use one of the shops on the list for an annual inspection.

Just up the road is Long Road Racing. They are a club sponsor and on the approved list. I got my annual Tech there this week.

Do they charge for the inspection? If so, then how much?

$98 for a tech inspection? I think Mark at Performance Chassis charges like $25.

Thanks for all of the information. I've known several shop owners for years, so I usually just took my car to someone that I know and got it done for free. I always go over the list first to make sure that everything will pass, so it usually only takes them a few minutes to put it on a lift and verify everything. Given that Ricky and I currently own the building that a performance shop operates out of, I'll probably tell Nic to go over the list, bring it by here this time, and get the owner to check it out for him. He can always take it to an approved shop later if he wants to keep doing HPDE's and get an annual sticker.
