Glad to hear that he is improving.

FYI the formula car racers STRONGLY recommend bead seat (not two part foam but actual bring more money bead seat) with enough thickness under and behind the driver to serve as an energy absorbing material. Many have learned the hard way that the spine will take it tough without this. Something for you track racers to keep in mind. Many formula car track racers have done this themselves. Threads exist on Apexspeed Forums. I'm sure there are experts in this area for doing the seat insert for closed and open wheel cars.

I'm glad to hear that the safety equipment did its job, but at the same time... the safety equipment did its job. Good information from Dick, though, and it's definitely something I'll be reading up on.

Dick,

Have you happened to have seen any info on people doing this for a production car racing seat? Everything I could find so far was geared around making a seat for an open cockpit car.

I have not but I haven't looked. You might check with IT racing folks or Chris at http://competitioncages.com/index.htm
