Congrats to all the THSCC teams that made it most the race, especially Booksmart (Scott et al) for finishing well on their first outing. They were indoctrinated right to crapcan racing by finishing 95% of the race after having lost both an axle as well as an oil cooler line.
Sorry so many of our THSCC teams were taken out early.

More importantly the former Integrenadter car actually made it through an entire race. The total maintenance we did was add 1/2 a qt of oil and replace a fuse for the lights.
1/2 qt huh? hmmm... Simon went through just shy of 2 gallons of oil yesterday. I think we overfilled once or twice which doesn't help, but yeah, we've got a drinking problem. I think I heard somewhere that loose motors make power, but this is getting ridiculous!
We're happy to have clawed back to 3rd after losing a rear wheel bearing and forcing a 10-15 minute stop. Unfortunately, that difference could have also put us further up the podium, but we're not disappointed with where we ended. The on and off rain and some luck (in the form of our competition breaking worse than us) certainly played in the favor of our relatively low powered FWD car.
My highlight of the weekend:
Looking in the rear view as I came into Turn 1 braking zone, I see 'That Damn MR2' closing fast. I maintained a lead on him through corners 1-6, but he pulled on me down the bridge straight and took the inside line from me under braking. Blocking this car is pointless as he WILL be by the next bit of straight, so I gave him room on the inside to make a clean pass up the hill. I lost him in my panoramic, and expected to see him pull me up the hill on my right side. Then I hear a bunch of squealing... I dive 2 wheels off track left to give him some room knowing I didn't want to be part of whatever was going on in my blind spot. On my next lap, there he is, parked facing traffic just off the right edge of the track on the inside of 7, obviously not able to move (and obvious that he didn't impact anything either).
It made my just a little warm inside knowing that we raced him hard enough to make him want to take a risky pass and/or cause him to run out of talent at the wrong time. Of course, I'm glad the incident ended well for him (and the rest of us nearby), and of course I wish no harm to any competitor. I believe I heard later that the reason they were stalled was due to their motorcycle battery not quite having the juice to crank that <cough>cheaty</cough> V6. It felt good to pass that car a few times, even if under local yellow.
