Here's a video that has alot of Grumpy Old Men's Trans Am. Even when the car isn't in the video I'm right behind him towards the end you'll see(and hear) the ignition module fail as I'm passing between two cars. Also notice how many point-by's I got!!!! If we could keep it running, the 50 lap penalty wouldn't matter. I passed 33 cars in 5 laps and never exceeded 4500 rpm. Taking it easy didn't matter we had seven failures during the race......But that car is a freakin blast to drive...

Optispark really sucks. It was one of Chevy's worst ideas.

Not only does the optispark suck in design but in location--Under the water pump???? Against the block???? The ignition module is located on a heat sink bolted to the left bank head WTF I'm sure the head will cool the module down---not!!! I'm going to relocate it to the fender well.
Do you think if I put an LS1 in it I can get a100 lap penalty????

Bob Kendrick has put a LS-1 in a Jeep cherokee. He has a heating problem too. His turns out to be the ECU getting hot. A couple of ice cubes on the ECU and the engine clears up. He has relocated the brain to the interior of the Jeep. So far he has had no more problems with it running bad. Of course he has been through 2 optispark distributors and 1 module in 18 months.

Maybe they won't know which engine is supposed to be in the car. Call it a 1999 and go for it. We won't tell!
