Yeah - Mike is doing well in the $ side, but his expense is in time spent. You have to pay the piper in at least one of those categories if not both.

I've had the "For what I have in this $500 car, I could have bought a <insert cheap racecar here>!" discussion many times with several people. The $ distribution across the team is a big help. For those of us that don't have a tow vehicle/trailer, the team is the ONLY way I can do this. If it weren't for Remchak, Colin, Walter, or Kendt dragging around whatever beater I'm driving, I'd never be able to do this.

I think this is the big thing for Jeremy, Bobby and I is the spreading the cost out and the fact that none of us have a tow vehicle. Two other team members that aren't THSCCers both have trucks and we have access to a friends trailer in the short term. My father is always able to find deals that no mere mortal human can find and he is on the hunt for a trailer, I am trying to talk him into becoming a 6th driver at some of these events and giving it a shot and not just sitting in the pits! He is afraid his diminutive stature (6'7") is going to make it hard to build a car where the rest of us are hovering in the 6' range

seven inches? please, let me know when you have a real challenge to deal with John.

our first car had VK & Bernie for height, Walter for breadth and Kendt & Tom for depth. easily 18 inches in all directions. good thing i am easy to get along with.

and Tom, really? Les is a wuss. we know that don't we? Mrs. Robinson ruined him i think.

Dude, you tried to claim you got a freakin' T-56 for $100! If you would have left the AT in there I bet you would have went thru relatively unscathed.

Just bring a Honda, they will ALWAYS thing the headgasket will blow and it will if you let it overheat.

Nah, I'm a big pansy. But I just imagine judges doling these absurd penalties can cause some heated debates....and then I imagine Remchak rolling in the dirt with a broken budweiser bottle with some jerk judge ;).

if you knew Steve you'd know he only drinks from a can, but that is a funny image.

my best advice is follow Mikes method. he has the right idea, known good spares from a running driving car are the way to go other wise you'll end up pissing in the wind, and wind up right back where you started after hours of work.....

Mike,

You seem to have the right luck when looking for cars! I have been looking for integra's for about a month without much luck. Can you share some search wizdom? I have been using claz.org.

Claz used to be good but crazedlist.org is pretty good now IMHO

There is probably a reason that 9 out of 10 of these cars you see are rusting away in someones backyard.

Just sayin'....
