Hey, I was passing AAE yesterday afternoon and saw a sweet white '07 Mustang GT on the display ramp out front. You should look into that :deadhorse:

The mustang was a blast and owning another one is not out of the question. If I do head down that road again, I'll be in a 08 bullitt. I'm still drawn to that car, but the prices won't fall....

I think I saw one of these for you up on capital somewhere while I was out driving last night... new body style and that dark green the bullitt has or maybe its just a base with the same color... go get it Rodney

2 students. I hate to say it, but at this point, the outlook is not so good.

Have faith... We'll have more by this weekend. How many students do you need to at least run the event? I understand this one won't be a money maker. What's the drop dead to cancel w/ NCCAR? If you got 10 more students could you at least run the event?

Probably already discussed with them, but perhaps take your tally back to NCCAR/Simon on your cut-off date and ask him to work with the club to make this happen (i.e. take some of the hit on rental) as it will (hopefully) create interest and enthusiasm within the THSCC for future events at NCCAR if we can get make this event happen. From NCCAR's standpoint, many of our members are also members of other clubs that run HPDE, so the word will spread. Of course, if the total numbers of students are way off what was expected, forget all of this...

Brad's going to run the numbers sometime soon, but I'm thinking we still need in the neighborhood of 15-20 more students. I'm not sure what NCCAR's cutoff is for canceling if that ends up being necessary, but we'd like to do it with enough time that folks don't have to wait til the last minute to find out and can make other plans.

The big question is, why aren't people signing up? I know of a few folks that are having car issues, but that's a very small percentage. I suspect a big issues is the Rolex race going on at VIR. I know LeMon's being the following weekend has a few folks sitting this one out.

If I weren't going to NJ to the ProSolo the following weekend I would be there. I know that doesn't help, just what I'm doing. My brother and I will be at CMP in June...

Thanks for letting me know John. That might the case for a few other folks, but I'm thinking a handful at best.

1. multiple events the same weekend. i'm sure the grand am race at vir doesn't help but i don't know how much overlap there is between watching and driving. the june event at cmp, for example, is competing with four other options that same weekend (chump at roebling, lemons at shenandoah, nasa-ma at summit, nasa-se at road atlanta).

2. increased participation in racing, whether it be nasa, lemons, chump, or whatever. a driver who races is generally less likely to participate in hpdes due to lack of time, money, interest, etc.

3. economic necessity has probably taken some people out of the track pool.

4. more events - nccar has increased track time supply, right about the same time that #2 and #3 above have decreased demand. charlotte speedway seems to be hosting more amateur-level events these days, and with AMP supposedly coming online later this year supply will increase even more in the southeast region.

5. hate to say it but nccar just isn't a great track compared to vir or cmp. i don't know anyone who does more track events than me and nccar isn't on my calendar once this year (i drove there three or four weekends last year). although i will say that if you've never driven there you should definitely try it!

I'm on the fence, but my money situation is getting tight. I should be signed up by this weekend though.

Thanks Jason. Most of those we don't have much control over. #2 is to be expected I suppose as HPDE is kind of a "gateway drug" for W2W. That shouldn't be a huge problem though as we expect that to be fixed by new green students. It's the #5 that most concerns me. I've never been there, but I've heard mixed reviews. I hate to hear it, but I'm glad you said it as that will help us with planning for next year.

I have a work project keeping me from attending and running Grid, but I wouldn't be in the pool of the needed students anyway.

To add to Jason's comments, there is also the ZDayZ event the following week. Most anyone and everyone that is involved with the Z cars makes that a "must attend" event each year. Bryan and crew generally draw well over 300 cars to the mountains each year.

As for NCCAR itself, I liked it as a teaching track. And I really liked working with the staff, top notch crew and very accomodating. But as Brad stated, it is Roebling-esque. From my point of view on this side of the state and anyone else around Charlotte, both tracks are equal distance and Roanoke Rapids has nothing on Savannah. My family has actually been disappointed that I haven't done a RRR event in two years because it guarantees them a trip to the beach.

I've pushed the event and will continue to do so for the newbs to intermediates I know.

Just in case you didn't get the e-mail and were planning on signing up, this event has been canceled. For those that were signed up, credit cards were never charged, so no refund needed. The good news is, NCCAR was willing to work with us on rescheduling for a later date. Once we get that sorted out, we'll post up details here.
