So, thanks to Ryan I've been playing around with Harry's GPS laptimer for my ipod touch/BT GPS.

I was going to industrial-velcro my ipod to the center console of the dash, but the app includes the ability to record video as well.

Would a suction-cup mount to the windshield with a secure hold of the ipod be allowed on track? Or would I have to get something that is screwed to the dash?

Basically this -

vs this -

We are a bad influence on each other. If your experience goes well this weekend I am going to upgrade to the Gen 4 iTouch

Nice feature - preloaded VIR Full and VIR North trackmaps and sector time triggers - they even have CMP + NCCAR (though oddly not VIR South).

Well I got a generic holder from Best Buy, but even if I could get it mounted somewhere out of my line of sight (very hard), it vibrates enough that I think it'll mess up the accelerometer readings in the device, and risk popping the suction cup loose. I'm going to see what Walmart/Staples have.

About to run out to Lowes again too - since when did Velcro quality go in the crapper? I bought 'Industrial Strength' to hold down the GPS module, and a slight breeze would blow it off the dash :x

so you are trying to install a cheerleader in the car? real time data seems to me to be a little distracting don't you think Kendt?

we all learn differently i suppose but by now you should know where you are losing time by the gaps the other cars are opening up on you. what other clubs have you run HPDEs with?

study this video and tell me where this guy is losing time. http://www.vimeo.com/21642815

you don't need no stink'n timers

Settle down ;) - I actually don't want it where it will distract me - I want to just do the datalogging to review outside the car. It does have to be mounted securely and where I can operate it - if I get video too, then bonus.

Still haven't had a chance to watch the whole thing, but did most of your yelling involve Oak Tree?
