Sorry in advance for the n00b questions, I am new to this.

I know there's a check-in on Friday night, but is it also okay to just show up and check in on Saturday morning? Stephen told me what time registration and the drivers' meeting is on Saturday, but I have forgotten (stupid goldfish memory). I've never been up to VIR -- is there a certain gate / entrance to go in? How do folks feel about leaving personal effects out in the paddock? Are there any nearby food options? Is air available on site?

Thanks!

a little sage advice Jennifer, if this is your first track event you might do better to show up Friday night so as to get settled in so to speak.

there is a ton of shite going on at a track event and it can be hectic if not overwhelming until you get a feel for the process. so Saturday morning once you go thru tech / sign-in and sit thru the driver's meeting it is time to go. Greenies go straight to class if i'm not mistaken.

so no time to clean out the car or set-up your pit space, check your tires, torque your lugs, check your oil, clean your windshield, take a squirt................ etc. etc. etc.

YMMV 8)

Steve, the Little Sage. New Name.

I always appreciate sage advice, but this is not my very first time at the rodeo. I've run several times at Heartland Park, and I remember the frenetic pacing. I won't be able to sleep at all Friday night and will end up heading out so early that I will be bouncing up and down to stay warm and wishing my car had a cupholder for coffee while I wait for the gate to open.

Well the good news is the gate will be open when you get there. It stays open from Friday morning until we leave on Sunday. Oh, and they start serving coffee at 6 AM at the grill.

;)

A little late, but anyone looking to split a room at the Inn or a Suite?

I've got a spot on a floor, but I'd happily pitch in a bit more for an upgrade :).

Damn, it's NASCAR weekend at Martinsville and the hotels in Danville are not worth what they are asking. I guess I'll try camping in the trailer.

We have a good deal setup at the Inn Keeper in Roxboro. Give them a call.

Marty, thanks. That is half of what the Danville hotels are asking. Now we don't have to camp.

Yeah, that is also where the young kids come to party!

After being away from track events for 6 years, I gotta say that was one heck of a fun weekend. Thanks to everyone involved for the obvious amount of work that goes into pulling off such a professionally run event. A special thanks to Stephen, Brad, and Mark V for going above and beyond. Great event, guys. I'm re-hooked.

Ditto for me!

I've missed our last few HPDEs due to all our Lemons efforts, but it was fun to go and hang out with old friends and drive my new car as it was meant to be driven. The Mustang was a lot of fun especially through Stevie Wonder. 8)

FYI, for those doing without...TORQUE rules!

Glad everyone had fun. We ended up with a great weekend both weather and people wise.

Thanks to all for coming out.

Yeah, lemons has kept me away as well but I will try not to forget how much I enjoy these events in the future and try to make more of them. I don't know what is more fun, the track time or the down time working on cars and talking to other people who are as crazy as me! Hard to find nuts like that in normal life. I was in the Blue group and I would like to give a special thanks to the Instructors who gave up time to us to make up for time we missed on track do to a couple of incidents.

BIG Thanks to Mike Whitney who spotted my car puking oil before I went out and ruined my engine!

Excellent time - as has been said many times before, the Miata crack is good crack :)

Thanks to everyone who helped put this on and soldiered through the hiccups - especially the blue group issues and power outages - a  for doing the best to get us some tracktime back.

I intend to get back out to more HPDEs (just realized it's been over a year since a proper HPDE) - much to learn, and the instruction in class and in car was excellent.

Played with the ipod/Harry's Lap Timer setup - I never found time to comb through the settings (concentrated on car prep). I think I had the internal GPS messing with the bluetooth one, but here's a quick in-car: 1.55 lap Sunday
