Looking at the results; I think that the most impressive performance is the Student Driver's 30 second lap at 116 MPH.

Must have been some kind of timing error, it came from the MyLaps results. They make a lot of adjustments in the timing booth; they probably fat-fingered one of them. Our transponder stopped reading for the last 45 minutes, so I had to sit in the timing booth and call out every time our car went by so they could count it manually.

At one point I believe I saw someone go off straight at T11 and re-enter the track after T14 on the front straight. I think they sat at the corner station for a long time though. But it would be an explanation!

Nobody really pissed us off that much, except maybe the guys who brought a $2000 car to the race, but they ended up not finishing, so I guess that it all works out.

Nobody shed a tear for the Saab guys (hey, Saab...tears, that's funny) when they broke. Actually they lost because they are idiots. They raced me (and others) as hard as they possibly could on Sunday when they had a FIFTEEN LAP lead. Any smart team would have called in on the radio and told their driver to let the car pass that was FIFTEEN LAPS down. Why use up the car with that kind of lead in an endurance race? HAd they saved some for the end they would have won.

Another thing is those guys are not very sociable, and they scream and curse orders at each other (with little kids nearby) like Lemons was the Daytona 500. Like autocross and other motorsports we all do, half the fun is hanging out with other car guys/gals and socializing. Those guys are waaaaaay too serious about this stuff IMO.

I think their weight cost them the win. Just look at this picture, there are plenty of opportunities to shed weight here...

Here's a summary of our race weekend:

Car gets too hot after 30 minutes
Suspect radiator, replace with spare
Car gets too hot after 30 minutes
Suspect thermostat, replace with spare
Car gets too hot after 30 minutes
Suspect thermostat, gut it
Suspect headgasket, Get ready to swap motor
Wait ... let's try the old radiator again
Car works great! It was the thermostat!!!

Later ... Car gets too hot after 30 minutes
Suspect headgasket, Get ready to swap motor
Wait ... let's put in a new radiator
Car works great! It was the radiator!!!

Later ... Car gets too hot after 30 minutes
Start plans to have car crushed
Wait ... let's bleed the system again
Car works great! It was air in the system!!!

Later ... Car gets too hot after 30 minutes
Swap radiator caps and forget we did that.
Car works great! I wonder what the problem was?

We ran it hard for 3.5 hours after swapping the cap with no problems at all...

Other highlights:
- Gave Hong Norr some axles for their CRX and enjoyed going to their pits to drink their beer all weekend for compensation.
- Went around to all the D-series guys on Fri night and compared how many motors they have consumed. Integrenaders: 2.5 Duff: 7 Hong Norr: "A whole goddamn warehouse"
- Went around to all the D-series guys on Sat night and observed the D-series carnage, including one spectacularly holed D-series block

It was a good time.

Hey VK, How about some credit for the block I put on the Saab for you! I think Cline helped Stephen too. I didn't want what your team promised, but dinner would have been nice.

I can't believe our problem was inside that power block. It could have been a 2 minute fix and a quick tire change. Instead it was a 6 1/2 hour frustration. I guess stuff like that is going to happen in a 26 year old car that has been run so hard.

We still had a good time. I wish that young guy doing his first Lemons race would have known going 4 wide into Turn One on the inside was a bad idea. I wish I had seen him sooner and braked sooner. He would have missed me and hit the other cars. I think he ran his door into my bumper when he hit the curbing. All it did to our car was scrap off the paint.

I think that water would have been better used in the Integra's radiator

We blamed it on Hong Norrth parked next to us (because VK told them 'don't F with our car tonight' when we left) - we one-upped them with the trash barrel in the back of the car, then got to see the WTF??? look when they came to the garage. We did help them un-adorn thier car :)

we got a lot of video, unfortunately i don't have any good editing software to make a "highlight reel" so i'm just uploading a few chunks. our best lap was 1:03.2 on lap 425 (of 444 total) after the temp issue was resolved and could easily have been in the 02s with fresh rotors. this is from late sun http://vimeo.com/20196641, another clip from sat is uploading now.

FYI Jason, per the rules they should not have let you guys back on track w/o the front bumper. You got away with one there.

true, i guess with only half an hour to go they decided to let it slide. the pass attempt was a dumb move on my part, but watching rob harvey rip off the bumper with his bare hands was almost worth it :)

For those of us who weren't there, WTH was the problem? OR do you guys know for sure??

Last I heard, the coil was bad- but I think that was from Remchak, so it might not be right.... :stick:

All in all, sounds like a really good weekend- I enjoyed watching some of the live feed online from TrackGeeks, that was alot of fun. Looked like the smaller field contributed to the overall level of clean driving. I'm sure there was some jackass driving, but it looked to me like there was plenty of space out there- ~50 cars compared to 80-100 or so that I've seen there in the past.
