That thread went really viral this week. Let me summarize it for those that wish to not waste their time reading it:

- Kid who cannot spell, has amazingly bad grammar has 500hp WRX and asks for brake pad advice on nabisco
- Kid gets tons of flak for his crummy communications
- Kid gets a few real responses to his question with some other good advice
- Kid basically ignores good responses
- Kid gets back from event, and by some miracle doesn't blow up the car or hurt anyone, but complains about point-bys and proves that he had no intention of listening to his instructor(the chief instructor) and is basically a hopeless moron.

/thread

edited to add very relevant point from Marty...

He totally lost any/all credibility when he scuffed the fact that his instructor drove a Miata.

I'm guilty of reading about 2-1/2 pages of the dialog and remember him mentioning that fact that he was learning disabled but street savy. Nice.

Probably a meathead in the armed forces with nothing better to spend on than a tired WRX, but each their own I guess.

As a track noob myself (one DE @ VIR full - it was so awesome though!) you really have to know what humility is and realize that your instructors have probably forgotten more than you know.

One more item to add, his instructor was the chief instructor for the event

His car almost went up smoke as well because of an oil line popping off.

learning disability? yeah, it is called New York City Public schools. plus he probably spends his day texting dribble to his idiot friends.

technology is making the youth of America bigger morons than they already are.

i hate it when i hear shit like this, it feels like your taking a stab at me. i'm sure there were plenty of morons when you were younger, but you never had the opportunity to read about all of them on the internet.

yeah, well get off my lawn while you are at it Sean. :furious:

my point of contention is with the half assed education system in our public schools and the use of an abbreviated form of the English language by people who use texting as a form of communication.

it is no wonder Guido with the WRX can't spell or clearly express his thoughts.

so yes, with the internet any moron can post his opinion for the world to judge. 8)

Isn't that the beauty of it for the onlookers when it turns into a trainwreck! (as long as no one gets their fellings hurt)

I have ZERO sympathy for the one's that air their dirty laundry especially. i.e. whining about your job on something like facebook when millions are willing to do poo-eater jobs as they've been layed off, thus ultimately getting fired.

Texting is out of hand though... I have two friends with daughters that have cell phones at age 11. Scary stuff.

Not only that, but there seems to be no limits/etiquette to texting. Kids text in the middle of a conversation with someone else, at movies, and while driving  and don't see any problem with it. While I'm not sure that I agree with Steve that the lack of speling is a product of poor schools, most of my neighbors kids who have graduated from NC public schools spel much beter than the kid on the NAISOC forum, I agree that the texting leads to bad habits. This has been indicated by studies showing that college kids write papers using texting shortcuts.

I don't think its making bigger morons out of them but it gives them the opportunity to be lazier.

And Sean, you're right there were plenty of morons when we were young, they were just less obvious and less public

My wife and I were talking about this the other day. The internet has blurred what is socially acceptable in terms of communications and relationship. She will get in pissing matches (if anybody tells here this they are dead) when some friend of a friend on Facebook says something that she thinks is directed at her. Its like the TV can now argue back with us. It also allows us to see how stupid people are.

As to Sean and Steve's urine olympics, Society has changed to what it teaches (by example) is important. Basic education is not important anymore, you can become a gazillionaire with out spelling, sentence structure, etc. Young kids example of success are not their principle anymore. I don't see this as a good thing but how do you stop it?

Lastly, Steve you are not a Democrat, you are a Libertarian. You rail on systems that were championed by the democratic party (in this case public education and its dumming down due to affirmative action type goals).

Wow, I am philosophical this morning!

Lastly 2: By definition, "youth" are always ignorant (not the same as morons or stupid) it is only by the life long educational process that one gains intelligence and is less ignorant.
